Friendly reminder to keep your food safe!

Article on Fox News

700 out of the 2,600 people in attendance at the dinner fell sick with "clinical signs of vomiting and/or diarrhoea" after the dinner on Dec. 14, with employees getting sick around 24 to 48 hours after the dinner.

Airbus Atlantic hosted the party at a restaurant on-site, located in Montoir-de-Bretagne, which is in western France.

Dinner included lobster, scallops, gone gars, and tournedos, which included desserts of hazelnut chocolate mousse and ice-cream logs.

"I had colic and headaches like I’d never had before. It was worse than giving birth," Nolwenn said.

Sounds like Amnesic shellfish poisoning but can't be certain until laboratory tests confirm the culprit.

Lol. Frank Costanza and the rotten meat!

Fun fact: In general, illness from food poisoning that makes you sick a short time after eating (an hour or longer) only lasts a short time. Illness that makes you sick a long time after eating (24-48 hours or longer) lasts for a longer time.

Those poor souls are gonna feel bad for a day or two. Lol.

I've gotten sick from bad scallops, I can't eat them any more. It was miserable.

Happened at the plant I worked at in Geismar in the 1980’s. Traced it to bad pork in the Christmas jambalaya the company served. I was continually exploding out of both ends for well over a week. Hundreds of people got sick, several hospitalized due to dehydration. Possibly one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life.

Holy shite that’s a huge party. I’m guessing that with the number of people they had to cook stuff way in advance.

Yeah, safe handling practices during prep and serving. Time and temperature is the key. Keep Cold foods cold. Hot food hot.

What you want to know?

Got into the industry about +20 years ago.

Worked mostly in fine dining, job hopping to get the most experience and best pay.

Left the private sector for a teaching job. This will be year 10 when the school ends.

No professional culinary experience. Just a lifetime curiosity about food.

That's where it started for me. I had no direction in life working as a waiter and taking gen-ed classes at the local community college.

Then I got tired of the FOH B.S. and dealing with customers but still loved the buzz of the restaurant biz, so I quit and took a job cooking.

Shortly after that, I realized I needed to fast -track my career and left for culinary school.

I had such an amazing time cooking and learning about food that I knew one day I would return to the classroom to give back to the industry that provided me with a purpose in life.

I was able to realize that goal sooner than I had planned and don't regret making the switch one bit.

Sometimes I miss it, but not as much as I would miss having nights, weekends, and holidays off if I went back.

Sounds like a scene from the movie "Drop Dead Gorgeous".

Sounds like Norovirus (aka stomach virus) which loves hanging out in shellfish. It’s a miserable 12 hours or so, but tends to go away suddenly.

most likely the culprit. Either that or listeria. Typical buffet pathogens.
