I kept it cheap since she will usually order a Corona which is usually 3.50-4.50 mine are more based on the fact I drink craft usually 8-12

we have a pho place in alexandria that we can eat and get out of there for about 30-35 with tip. Of course we both drink water. I guess I'm glad I married a tightwad like myself

$8 app and $10 entree sounds messed up.
We go out maybe once a month. We'll spend anywhere from $120-$200. When we go out, we have a babysitter, so we are drinking. $15-20 app, $30-$50 entrees each, then another $50-80 on drinks (usually a couple $12-15 cocktails than a bottle of wine). We can get out for under $100 if she doesn't drink (which was all the time recently when she was pregnant).
We cook the rest of the time, so we find value in the nicer dinners out.

We stay in that 10 dollar range for an app and 10-15 dollar range for entree... of course we also don't always order and entree as well.... Usually we are 2-4 beers although sometimes 5-6 beers

Spent $73 at an Olive Garden and she didn't put out.

$30 is either at a low-end joint like Applebees or at a non-romantic date place. Like the guy said - a pho joint, which is certainly not the romantic spot.
My wife and I have been on a tight budget the last few years (thanks, kids and poor decisions!), and we've been good about figuring out how to do date night cheap. We rarely spend more than $50 including tip. But you have to forego the appetizers and cocktails. Split a glass of wine. Order from the cheaper ends of the menu. And that's at really nice places that probably hate us for not buying a bunch of alcohol.

Skip the apps and alcohol. Usually can get out of there around $30-$40. Unless it's a first date and alcohol is included...more than likely in the $80 range.

Spending 100 + on dinner is retarded, especially if this is a common occurrence. Maybe a special occasion, but that's it. My wife and I can enjoy dinner somewhere from 30-60 bucks and not break the bank. Are you people charging these 100 + meals? This is one reason so many people are in debt, now get off my lawn
You live in Alexandria. Boston is much more expensive.
Telling people how they should spend their money is retarded.
Get off my stoop because I don't have a lawn because I live in a city.

Damn. That's a case for more local breweries right there. I almost never see craft beer for that much, unless it's a BA special release. And Portland is not cheaper then BR or NOLA. My beers are in th 5-6 range, and maybe 7 at a nicer restaurant.

For me, cost depends on which food cart I take her to.
Actually, we usually get out for 40-50 bucks, all in. She is a small woman and doesn't eat much. Often times, well get a couple of apps, or an app and split an entree. Often times, we go to a brewery, as she's not picky and let's me choose.

shite I'm jealous.
Can't find craft beer for less than $7 anywhere here. I'm usually paying $8-9 per beer at the least. And happy hour is illegal here, which blows.

I'm of the mind that going out to eat is something enjoyable and is an experience so I'm not out to stuff my gut for as cheap as possible. I want good service and a nice selection of food to choose from and some good cocktails or wine as well.

Hell, I would rather just stay home.
Trying apps, soups, etc and having a few drinks is something that makes a trip to a restaurant enjoyable.
And as alluded to earlier, what area you live in can make a big difference in cost. Nola is going to be a lot more than Alexandria for a decent meal.

It really depends on where/when we're going.
If we're eating something quick on a weeknight, it's probably going to be in the 30-60 range. Something like pizza, pho, burgers, sandwich shop, tacos, etc...
If this is a weekend 'date night', then it's going to fall between 100-150 typically, including tip.

Level I - Newks, Zoe's, Panera ~$25
Level II - Walkons to Carabbas $40-$60
Level III - Deguilios, Pinettas, Gino's runs me about $80 because we typically order a bottle of wine.
Level IV - Vacation and New Orleans...upwards of $100. I spent the most I've ever spent two weeks ago for her birthday at Irene's Cuisine. $200 even including tip, but damn it was good.
