On a related note. This morning I went to Albertson's right at opening. Only shopper in the place. I picked up a package of raw ground meat and it was warm. I tried several packages of different sizes. All were warm.

I walked over the the butcher who was restocking chicken and told him about it. He walked over to the beef section and said "OMG, the refrigeration went out overnight. All of this stuff is gonna have to be thrown out."

Must have been $1,000 worth of steaks in that section. I thought about asking him for a couple of filet mignons for my dogs.

I tell you what Degas. He deserved an RA, but you were out of line to RA me.

A real shame that no one seems to be supporting me in this fight.

I can't believe he came in and started that crap right in the middle of Skillet's call for advice.

By the way, If you eat ham the way God intended, there should be no ham left after the first couple of Sammiches. You ought to be able to knock out a pound in two or three hours.

America has become nothing more than a bunch of cub scout wimps IMO.

Not a real fighting man anywhere I look anymore.

"I can't eat a pound of ham in a week...what can I do?"

I was interested in the OP's original question, but I see the conversation descended into trash talking without many answers.

So if you're still interested: On the Boar's Head website, they recommend using within three days after purchase. It has fewer preservatives than other brands that I've seen.

I've noticed that when I buy bacon with fewer preservatives and sodium, it goes bad much faster, too.

That said, it depends on the brand you buy.

Come on BP - No less than three or four people, Including me and that guy I was fighting with answered Skillet's question exactly as you did.

Oh by the way, if you know Skillet, you know he was trolling when he posted that question.

Kind of like someone here posting, "can anyone tell me how to make a good gumbo?"

Anyhow. I'm certain Skillet thanks you for your timely response on proper storage of bologna.

Before you get all mad, I'm pulling your leg (Sor'ta) on a slow Saturday.

And to think I came to your defense when Rohan was skull fricking your senile old arse. Never again.

You should be banned for that unfunny display of idiocy.

No makers in me.

It was a very slow Saturday.

To Skillet I offer apologies. I have read his efforts. I am shocked that he took offense.

To those who enjoyed and laughed I offer thanks.

To any who don't know how long ham will keep in their fridge I offer pity and sympathy. Our government has provided multi-million dollar research grants to provide the best studies money can buy to settle the three or five day answer. What were the results of that heavily funded research?

The time interval varies, from fridge to fridge and ham pack to ham pack.
