Frankly, Louis should try a new concept before his name recognition is totally gone.

I am aware of Zolia Bistro. He should have done more concepts in the past and I hope he does more now. I'm truly at a loss of why he hasn't done more.

He's too complacent these days. I thought he would be more aggressive with opening more locations and remodeling some of their more outdated restaurants.

It's definitely time for an update. The decor is stuck in the nineties. In a bad way.

I think he was aggressive about expanding DeAngelo's outside Baton Rouge and beyond 10 years ago, but it just didn't take off for whatever reason.

But yeah, Louis needs to revitalize interests in DeAngelo's with a revamped menu, some remodeling and some radio ads. And top it off with a new concept.

I remember when the original location opened in the late-90s (Bluebonnet near Perkins -- I believe a Mexican restaurant is in that location now) we'd drive all the way from Thibodaux to eat there, it was that good. Now it's pretty meh.

He did try a new concept back in the early 00's if memory serves right. Higher end Italian and fresh bread - I think. Can't remember the name, but it pretty much fell on its face. Now just a regular D'Angelo's on Coursey.

Salads and calzones used to be very good

This plus the pizza was always pretty solid.

I generally would avoid most of the pasta dishes but thought the place on average was decent.

That being said, I haven't been in over 7 years.

There is one in Central. I'm scared to go in. Looks crappy. However, Fleur de lis looks likes absolute shite and the pizza was good (not great like all you cult people).

I went to the Central location for the first time the other day. The pizza was excellent and actually better than all the times I had D'Angelo's years back in the day when everyone thought it was good. Go for the pizza not the ambiance.

Probably still smarting from his attempts to expand years ago.

I know he tried some different things at the Burbank location, not sure if that one is still open or not.

I like D'angelos, but as some have said its a little more price than it should be.

Still a solid option. One on Coursey is usually steady for dinner.

DeAngelos first location was in 1991 at the Hammond Aire Shopping Plaza (Airline Hwy and Old Hammond Hwy) I think it was located where Roman's Mediterranean Cafe LINK is today.

It seems Parma Pizza was located there, but that wasn't Louis' restaurant. From what I can tell, he took over the location after Parma Pizza failed.

quote:

Louis came down from Jersey to BR to buy/take-over his cousin Paul Parma's fledgling 'Parma Pizza' in Hammond Aire, my cousin built it out for him. My father, and I, lived nearby, gave Paul, and later Louis regular biz when he was a one-man-show.
