Houston Chronicle article

Take it with a grain of salt, as you will clearly see this is the "most popular" list and not the "most authentic" list.

1. Ragin Cajun – Galleria
2. The Cajun Stop – East Downtown
3. BB's Cafe – The Heights
4. Brennan’s – Midtown
5. Crazy Alan’s Swamp Shack – Kemah
6. Heights General Store – The Heights
7. Floyd’s Cajun Seafood – Webster
8. Treebeard's – Downtown
9. Frenchy's – Clear Lake
10. Jimmy G's Cajun Seafood Restaurant – Greenspoint
11. French Quarter Cajun Seafood – Copperfield (NW Houston)
12. Cajun Kitchen – Westchase/Chinatown
13. Beaucoup Bar & Grill – Medical Center
14. Pappadeaux – multiple locations

This place is Italian. And pretty good italian at that.

I'm hoping this was the Chronicle staff that did this list and not Allison Cook. That's embarrassing.

And Floyds is a Fu**ing abomination!

Since liberty kitchen serves gumbo and oysters, I'll go with liberty kitchen.

Ragin Cajun is legit for the raw oysters. Some of the biggest and saltiest in town. That's it.

BB's does a really good poboy.

Pappadeauxs would go out of business in South Louisiana.

I doubt it.

A Landry's somehow manages to stay open in South Louisiana....Pappa's restaurants are light years better than any casual Landry's establishment.

I've never eaten at Landry's, though the people I know around Breaux Bridge/Henderson don't bother going to the one located there.

Agree with Cajun Stop, probably the best I've had in Houston, girl who runs it is from Houma I believe. The Boot in the heights also does some damn good boiled shrimp.

Pappadeaux would wreck shite in BR. Hell, they would make bank in NOLA too.

Well they do make their gumbo and jambalaya with tomatoes, so you're probably right.

Yikes. Have you seen "jambalaya" from this place? White rice topped with chicken chunked veggies and red sauce.

Does Danton's qualify? That place is great.

Check the article again. It says Frenchy's @ 3919 Scott St. That's completely different from the Clear Lake restaurant.

Frenchy's

What they left off was probably the best Cajun food in town , Abe's Cajun Deli on Clear Lake City Blvd.

Did not catch that.

Abe's is very good but overpriced IMO. Last time my wife and I went we got two Po'boys, fries and fried pickles and was nearly $40.

Danton's is kick arse. This article was about popularity, and if that's the case, it reveals that many Houstonians don't really give a shite about authentic Cajun food judging by what is "popular".....

.....or that whoever wrote that article is a complete fricking loser.

If it's like the one in Dallas they serve great mustard greens and shrimp.
