All Fresh Markets in the Houston area are set to close. 30% off everything started today. Good riddance I say.

Why?

I'm not sure if I've ever shopped at one, just curious.

Closing in Dallas too. Can't compete with Whole Foods and Sprouts.

Sprouts is a beast in Texas. Stores are opening left and right.

Fresh Market is more like Whole Foods than Sprouts. I like Sprouts but they're definitely not a high end store.

The Fresh Market on St. Charles in NOLA is a ghost town whenever I've been there.

I don't look for the one in Metairie to make it either.
Five grocery stores within like three miles and trader Joes opening next month.

Shutting them down in Texas when they are brand new in Metairie. That's how far behind Louisiana is when it comes to making groceries.

Trader Joes will open end of September, but I agree that Fresh Market probably isn't doing well.

Yeah, but not super highly priced either. My wife and I shop there for meat and produce, knowing we will get high quality fresh stuff without breaking the bank. Plus the butchers counter is great. They are so friendly and will cut anything I ask from them.

I like the Fresh Market in Bham, but I go in there maybe once every 6-7 months because every time I go in there the service is so bad that I swear I'm never going back

I like the fresh market on St Charles. I can ride my bike over and grab a nice cut of meat and veggies and be out in 10min and satisfied with my purchase. Hope they don't close.

I'm more of a daily than weekly shopper.

Overpriced.

Nothing spectacular when compared with and HEB/Central Market or Whole Foods.

My question was based on my incorrect thinking that this was about central market. I was confused when LA people started talking about it. I don't even know what fresh market is.

I seldom stop in Baton Rouge and I pass it several times a day. I wouldn't buy meat there because I don't think they turn the stock over often.
