I've been lazy and just using a growler filler straight from the tap to fill my bottles from the keg. Seems to work just fine, but I'm not the one drinking the bottles.

I bottle an extra from each batch to test around the time of the competition to make sure it was done correctly.

A buddy told me this morning that he found some wild persimmon trees yesterday in a park, so our minds immediately turned to beer. Now just trying to figure out what to brew. Figure we have another like 2 weeks before they fully ripen. Since I am on a huge sour kick, obviously thinking sours. Anyone have any experience brewing with persimmons?

Upland makes a persimmon lambic. I think they just crsh up the persimmons and throw them in the barrel like you'd do for a kriek.

As kids we used to see who could keep an unripe persimmon in their mouth the longest.

That's going to be my plan going forward, I just need to order the little piece that fits inside the faucet.

I was planning on doing this, that's why I tried to bottle 5, 2 for a competition, 2 to give away to some coworkers, and one to keep to try on judging day. After how my day went yesterday I decided to try one this morning, which led me to drinking all of them, I convinced myself they'd get worse if I didn't

I tried again today and ended up getting 2 good looking, full bottles. I gave up after that, the judges will have to let me know how they are

I've got that.

Was impressed with the fill Hokus Pokus was able to acheive with just a piece of tubing stuck inside the faucet for growler fills though.

I tried sticking 2 pieces of tubing I had on hand in the faucet and neither one gave me tight fit at all. The little piece is $5, so I'll probably go with that.

Yep, that plus a foot or so of beer line seems to work well for me.

So Im hoping to keg up a beer I've had for a while in fermentor on Thursday night and hope it's carbonated for Saturday tailgate...

I've been working 4 days a week in Beaumont TX so I have really slacked on my brewing. It's driving me crazy. I was bottling beer for the last year or so after kegging for the first two years I brewed... I like being able to bring bottles places, but I don't have time to bottle beer anymore. I just hope I have all the lines hooked up correctly. I got CO2 last week and I just have to make sure I have no leaks in my lines.

Im hoping this will get me back brewing so I can bring out more beers to tailgates.

I have the setup like in this youtube vid The Bowie adapater for perlick faucet and a bottling wand seen at the 6:30 mark......this guy is hard to listen to but the info is there. LINK

It works pretty good....I did put a basketball air needle into the stopper as shown in the vid.

Pros: It fills w/ minimal foaming and the bottles seem well carb's after sitting for a week or so.
Cons: The Bowie does not fit as tight as I would like into the perlick faucet and so the pressure can blow it out. I have to hold it although a beefer O-ring may help. Also, the tubing that fits onto the stainless bottling wand is not tight and so it will blow off. A small pipe clamp fixes this.

You ain't kidding. Going to have to rig something to make sure that doesn't happen to me tonight...

Take some rubber or cloth and wrap it, then clamp down.

No guarantees, but that's how I'd jury rig it.

Here is what I am going to try next. I had some 3/4" o.d. tubing (11/16" i.d.) I used to use to fill growlers. It fits fairly snugg around the outside of the perlick and around the bowie adapter. I think a 5/8" i.d. tube would be perfect to hold it tight.

I just ordered this:

Perlick Bottle Filler

They had several different sized pieces for the different Perlick sizes, maybe y'all that are having problems could give a different size a try. I'll report back when I get it in and try it out.

Possibly....but I ordered the piece for my specific faucet. When I ordered, they only offered the piece for 525s.
