What items would be available from HEB that we could not get at Alexanders, Calandros, or Costco in BR?
Not familiar with HEB offerings, but would like to know if there is something I need to try!

There are a few things that HEB has that are exceptional. I don't know if they would ever be available for shipping. My friends from Louisiana stock up on HEB fresh made tortillas from the bakery. They also get a cooler load of the different pre-marinated fajita meats - beef, chicken and pork. Better than any mexican restaurant within probably a 100 or more miles of them.
Just take out of the package and chunk on the grill. Kind of like a hot dog. Very easy and they are good and tender and taste very good.
There are probably others - Blue Bell used to be one of the things they would eat while here - but these are what they request when I go to La.

Interesting. I usually buy skirt from the lil messican grocery stores here. Would be willing to try that tho.

My parents load up on this before heading back to BR...
I would recommend.
ETA: Pic is small but its "Cookwell Company" I think.

As a Texan and frequent HEB'er, I can definitely vouch for the fajita meats. Hands down, best store bought meat I've ever had. I stock up on it every time I head south of the DFW area since we don't have any HEB's up here still.

my mom sends me a care package or two a year of heb products.
most recent one had the multigrain pita chips, a pumpkin and pineapple empanada (legit), corn tortillas, valley lemons, and dijon mustard
the fajitas are awesome indeed (the chicken ones aren't bad either)
eta- the HEB sodas are pretty damn good too.

Or equivalents

This stuff is like crack
What is that? A dip for chips?
Looking at pictures of the fajitas has me considering taking the HEB fajita meats to Louisiana for Thanksgiving. Would this work in place of guacamole?

I miss the HEB more than anything else from the time I lived in Austin.
Not that I didn't love many things about Austin but damn I loved my local HEB.
Always clean. Always fully stocked. Always had every line open with stock boys bagging groceries. Always full of happy courteous employees.
Have no clue if the chain is the same today but damn if I don't miss the way it was when I lived there.

I miss HEB, especially the salsa selection.

It sucks that there is no HEB in Dallas. Central Market is owned by them and you can get some of their best products there, but its their higher end brand so the prices are of course higher as well.

The marinated chicken thighs are delicious. And HEB doesn't mess around when an item says "spicy" or "hot". Their pre-cooked chicken tinga is good too when you're wanting something ready in about 5 minutes.

oh yea. i don't think i've ever been to an HEB that isn't like the one you described.
used to push carts and work in the stock room myself when i was 16-18. great, fun job for a youngster looking for good experience and a little extra cash for beer and weed

That explains why the employees are so happy to be there

Basically for anything....It isn't real thick, so you can pour it on just about anything.

I did a search on them. The green had a thread on yelp and a review https://eatmoreheat.com/2012/04/that-green-sauce-by-heb/. The green seems to have a cult following - one of comments to the review sounded awesome - the sauce on a grilled bacon cheeseburger.
There is also a "That red sauce". If I bring the fajita meat to La I'll probably grab a couple of both and use them in place of salsa. Red sauce review https://eatmoreheat.com/2013/08/that-red-sauce-by-heb/
