Looking for some good fried chicken. Willing to go several minutes out of my way for it. Popeyes is too damn greasy so I'm ruling it out.

Chicken shack. But that's in the hood and you're running out of daylight now...

The Valero gas station in Krotz Springs is killer.
I know, a few miles away, and they usually run out of tenders about 3:00.

Chicken shack, not that it helps you out currently, but for future reference.

Leader's in Gonzales
Mission Street Cafe on Highway 73 near C Braud Road
TnT Express Deli inside Chevron on Highway 73 at Highway 30
Rouses on Airline Highway near Antioch Boulevard
About the best you will find within a 10 mile radius.
Best in town is Stockyard Cafe but only on Wednesdays.

Good call ...
The Popingos inside Mobil (across from Walmart) on Old Perkins and Airline in Prairieville cook a great bird. Those ladies inside the store in the kitchen know what they're doing.

They have a chicken shack in Plaquemine now. The ferry isn't too far from Dutchtown, but probably still way too far if you're looking for the general Ascension area.

That pop n go gas station sells Krispy Krunchy chicken. Das the sign ya wanna look for. The KK chicken os big pieces well seasoned and pretty good on the $ too. Their po boys are good chow for the $ too. The KK signs can be found at lots of gas station convience stores and is bout my favorite fried chicken.

Lots of love in here for Popingos. I will attest that the the Popingo by the Sunshine Bridge is seriously legit -- their breakfast is the truth
