I've had Ghost, Heady Topper and Pliny the Elder from BeerAdvocate trades in the past few months.

Heady Topper > Ghost > Pliny the Elder.

Are there any articles or reviews of Ghost outside the Southeast area? Just curious of an unbiased review from others. I don't doubt its world class all around, just like to hear an outsiders opinions of it.

Maybe biased is the wrong word. Just curious of the opinions of those in the northeast or those on the West Coast, where they have the availability of a multitude of world class IPA's, and what they think of Ghost.

Isn't parish releasing a December batch of Ghost?

No. Did some for Grand Reserve Day in November. They hope the next one is Feb/March.

Per their facebook release that included the Envie news, they stated December. Did that get pushed back?

I have too. I've done my tasting with pliny, heady, and i threw in great rafts dipa as well.

Ghost won out overall. And i think i picked ghost as well. I know i love ghost, but subconsiously, being that Ghost is the home team, i may have given it more love because of it. i tried to be as objective as i can. I found ghost and heady to be nearly identical, but gave Ghost the edge.

Just curious of how the non-locals see ghost, not necessarily in a comparison, but in a review. I guess i can just go over to beer advocate.

This is the lastest I've heard, as well as speaking with local retailers

I've made roughly 6 trades with ghost between batch 6 and batch 7 with people from California to New England and always seek feedback. Not sure if they're blowing smoke, but they always tell me how far it exceeded their expectations (only maybe 2 of the traders had it before). All have compared it in the same class as the big ones previously mentioned. It has continued to pick up steam nationally, and I don't see it slowing down.

IMO, the reason it's not in an even greater demand outside our area is due to the number of craft beer geeks in these high-producing areas compared to the lower number in Louisiana. Look at the craft beer markets around these whale brewers (Cali, New England, Austin, Chicago, Colorado)--all densely populated areas with big craft demand. This is partially driven by the regulations around opening breweries and the ability to sell directly to retailers (cutting costs of distributors and making it possible to take market share from the deep-pocketed BMC). Louisiana (and many southern states) have antiquated laws stunting craft beer growth.

Guys, Ghost will be on a much more regular brewing cycle going forward. The next batch of Ghost was brewed before Grand Reserve Day. It'll get brewed likely every 4 weeks, so it'll come out monthly.

Sooo, I'll be able to NOT find it in the store every month instead of every few months... Got it.

The last time I asked about it, the guy working in the beer section literally laughed at me. I just can't seem to get a hold of the Ghost. At this point, I really just want to see what all the hype is about.
