Best case was about 6pm yesterday to 6:30 this morning. Worst case about 4:30. Gallon size bag, full and fully frozen left out to defrost. Smells a hint fishy but not terrible. Any chance here or am I just asking for it?
It wasn't cold at all this AM before getting it back in the fridge.

I'd fry it all for lunch, you'll be fine.

I intended to put it in a stew. Think grilling beforehand it would do the trick?

Smell test is the best
I wouldn't let my kids eat it but I would

I have done this, unfortunately, on more than one occasion. I have never had a single issue from eating.

Probably ok since frozen but I would toss because that is what I would do, especially with seafood. Was it still cold?

No it wasn't cold at all really. But it was frozen solid when I took it out. So looking at about 14 hours out for a gallon bag. I don't think it smells bad

The issue is serving potentially bad food to other people. If it was just you eating then it makes it easier to call.

Just going to toss it and cry about it

Dont, put it the stew as you intended and make sure it stays at over 160 degrees for 10 minutes.

Good decision to toss. Cant let this happen.

Now you have me thinking about trying to grill it and see what it looks like and then deciding on the effort to take it further

If it's not cold anymore then no

Going for it. Couldn't have been room temperature for more than an hour or two. Doesn't smell bad at all.
Will report back on the status of my anus.

Youll be fine. Humans lived without refridgeration for millions of years, an hour or two in a bag at room temp you will be fine.

a good sniff is all you need. Put a cap full of white vinegar in a sink full of water and let it soak.

If it were just for me and it were steaks or something like that where there was a low chance of contamination below the surface, they weren't packed in a liquid, and I'm going to be applying a blast furnace to the surface? I'd probably go for it, but I'd think real hard and smell it REAL good.
If I were using the meat to feed other people or if the meat was chicken that's very often contaminated during processing or seafood that can go bad in a heartbeat or it swam all night stewing in its own bacteria sustaining soup?
