Has anyone been yet? I know they just opened, but some of you are right on top of these things. The menu looks legit as hell.

There was a thread on it.

I've had two friends go. One went and said it was going through the typical new restaurant stuff. Took forever to get food, it was ok, etc.

Another went and said it was great.

I'll wait a few weeks for them to get everything together and go.

I've been 2 times.

The brisket I got was awesome. Almost like burnt ends. Sprouts were weak compared to Blue Oak's. Pulled pork was good but not amazing. Avoided the ribs because they were sauced, and I follow lazy keto rules. Still need to try the beef rib and pork belly.

Previous time I tried the wings, which were good but not enough smoke flavor. Again, nod to Blue Oak.

I went and got the ribs. Ok but nothing special. They had good baked beans, sauce, and beer selection. Could just be early growing pains regarding the meat.

I've yet to go, but a buddy of mine went and complained that the meat didn't taste particularly smoked. I can't say if that's a valid critique or not, although I will say he tends to be hyperbolic.

That plate on the top looks pretty sad.

Went a couple weeks ago, got the sliced beef, ribs and pulled pork. All were awesome. I think Frey's, Blue Oak and LA Smokehouse all do a great job.

For Frey's I rate the sliced beef first, pulled pork second and ribs third. I liked all 3 and IWEI again.

That's a 2-meat combo. Comes with 2 sides, I went double sprouts cause I don't do much carbs. But you'd think they'd fill some space on the plate with pickles, onions, bread, etc.

Doesn't crack the Blue Oak/Joint level to me; curious to see Central City and enjoyed Brugger's stuff when around. Pork was mediocre and pre-sauced, brisket was tasty and the ribs were disappointing considering that was the pimped meat due to Hogs finishes. Slaw was standard and the cabbage was excellent...sold out of mac and beans. Beer selection is good but not a factor for attendance IMHO. Will wait a few weeks and try back since it's close to home. For guys going recently, how's attendance?

I went last night w/ some friends at 6:45 and the place was kind of empty. Around 7:30 it was pretty full.

We wanted the beef ribs (Out)
We wanted the pork belly (Out)
We wanted the sprouts (Out)

Got the sausage and biscuits and wings to start. The biscuits were fantastic. Sausage was good but needed more smoke. Wings were ok. Blue Oak obviously better.

For main course I got brisket and ribs. The brisket was ok but way too fatty and the ribs were meh. I didn't care for the sweet sauce on the ribs. Again, a nod to Blue Oak.

For sides I got cornbread (biscuit was WAY better) and the spicy grilled cabbage. The cabbage was delicious. My friends got what I got plus the fried chicken. It looked ok but I didn't try it and they didn't rave about it.

The biscuits and cabbage were definitely the best things I had there. I will give it another go or 2 to try the beef rib and the pork belly and their burgers, but Blue Oak is far better IMO.

Also, weird that you cannot get mac n cheese as a side.

I don't understand the big empty square tray.. And the meat looks chewed up and spit out. Not appetizing in any way, to say the least.

I found this very odd, as well.

Brugger's

Had Brugger's brisket at St. Roch Market a couple months back and was not impressed.

They need to offer mac as a side and wings as an option for the 2/3 meat combo platters.

I want to check it out because my buddies built the place but if I am craving BBQ in the area, it is hard to pass up Blue Oak.

That's a lot of sauce on the ribs in their site pics.

Haven't visited St. Roch but didn't his stuff at Black Label too terrible. The ribs were indeed quite sauced.
