Great place for fruit and vegetables. Open air shopping. Helpful, happy people working there. Great tomatoes for only $1.29 not like those balls of wax at albertsons for $1.99. Don't know why I haven't been going there more.

Sometimes the quality isn't quite on par, but I'm a big fan of the place both in Lafayette and BR. The birds also seem to like the place.

They get them from the same purveyors. They just typically get the seconds because the grocery stores want them all pretty much uniform. This is why they are a bit cheaper. But very little of it is local and you have to ask and search for local. Most of those tomatos are refrigerated and trucked from Mexico, California or Florida as is most everything else.

In the spring you can get some homegrown, local items but not much. If you are aware and ok with that no big deal but buyer beware.

The ones from fp sure look, feel and taste better than the ones from Albertsons and super 1. Rouses usually has good produce. A head of romaine at Albertsons is about 8" long.

I don't buy any refrigerated tomatoes since that ruins them. I will only eat a tomato now if someone gives me a fall tomato out of their garden and a few people still have some. I can never get a fall tomato to do well. I eat them fresh all spring and summer from my garden or friends or occasionally a fruit stand if it is local and can as many as I can for getting me through the winter. Or I'll buy canned if I run out.

FP is owned by Capital City Produce in BR. There are some great vegetable bargains there and some stuff you don't see in the stores.

I think they are owned by Russell Saia. At least he was the original owner.

I know FP on Coursey is owned by Capital City Produce, I presume the one in Lafayette is also, maybe not.

Friend of mine went to the Saturday market in Laffy last weekend and said it was excellent.

I got some Fall tomatoes from someone who said they were from North AL. This was the last of the bunch for the Fall, though. They were pretty darn good. I have a few left.
