Frankie Marcello’s closing, will reopen as Lasseigne’s American Grill this fall

quote:

Frankie Marcello’s, a three-year-old restaurant specializing in Italian, Creole and seafood dishes, will close next week and reopen later this year as Lasseigne’s American Grill, which will serve Louisiana-style dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients.

partners are bringing in a young chef and that the menu will be “a cross between Sammy’s and Mike Anderson’s, with a healthier flair

Went to Frankie Marcello's once and didn't find it intriguing enough to go back

is it weird that i feel like Marcello's is closing and reopening in a new location like every 8 months to a year?

That's a BAD location. Constantly swapping hats.

Isn't this the location that was Calander's then some mexican place for a while?

THe parking kind of sucks there and it doesn't look like a restaurant. It is basically in a small office park.

I liked the food at Marcello's for the value. No, it wasn't chart topping, but my girlfriend and I could get the lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs and split it and it was good for the money and convenience of a to-go order.

THat being said, the atmosphere sucked. It still had that 1990 Calenders feel to it. Of all the restaurants that have been there, I think all they've done is change the sign when changing restaurants.

Also, I've often wondered if people are hesitant to go there because of the murder that happened in the 90's. It never stopped me, but some people are weird about stuff like that.

Yes, because you're thinking about the wrong Marcello's.

Marcello's that was on Perkins closed years ago and reopened in New Orleans because the owners moved there. It seems to be doing very well in NOLA.

The "Frankie" one was not anywhere near on the same level -- and no affiliation.

On a side note, that POS just won an appeal related to his sentencing last month. Reading the news story brought the whole thing back to me. I had occasion to hear the 911 call where the Manager was begging for her life before he shot her. It was pretty bad.
