I hate not liking a food that I see others enjoy. I have always tried foods periodically to basically try and like them and see if maybe my tastes had changed.

Brussels sprouts were about the only vegetable that I still didn't like (other than turnip root)....until this week. My wife loves them and I always try them and over the past year I got where I could eat a few but didn't really care for them but I finally broke through. I have had them three nights in a row. Anyone else have the same kind of experiences with foods you don't like?

Louisiana hot sauce. Didn't really see the big deal as a kid, but now I put that shite on half of what I eat.

Nothing recently as I'm pretty adventurous, but certain things had to grow on me as a young adult. Red beans, stewed chicken, chicken and spaghetti, sushi, liver, eggplant, cauliflower of all things and cooked cabbage and carrots.

I acquired a taste for single malt scotch at 17 thanks to a father that appreciated it back in the 70's much before it was popular as well as a good martini, be it vodka or gin.

But at 12 it was hard to knock back more than two martinis so that grew on me.

Raw oysters. I was 60 when I finally got drunk enough to try them. Now I love them.

I used to despise mushrooms. I think the aversion was from knowing they're grown in feces. Now I've said screw it and I love them in almost anything.
