Fleur De Lis Pizza for sale for $4.5 million
The audacity of this asking price to prop up a failed business that couldn’t adapt to the times is insane. Boomers incoming to white knight for this shite hole in 3…2…1…

BATON ROUGE - Fleur de Lis Pizza, a Baton Rouge staple for more than 70 years, is up for sale and looking for a buyer who will reopen the shuttered restaurant. The property was recently listed at an asking price of $4.5 million, with the listing calling for a "motivated entrepreneur, investor or pizza enthusiast to carry on the time tested recipes of this mid city gem." The building is said to still be fully equipped with a working kitchen and other restaurant necessities. The sale includes the name, the property, all equipment and even the recipes. The long-running business, located on Government Street near the Jefferson Highway intersection, announced it was closing "until further notice" back in July 2022. At the time, ownership cited a staff shortage as the main reason for the sudden closure.

Cash sale?
Of course. They aren’t going to start paying taxes now.

As soon as the sale goes through, the IRS should audit the owners. Im sure there would be decades of unpaid taxes they could recoup.

Does the purchase price include terrible service and rude staff? What about the health code violations, are they grandfathered in?

My father-in-law is from the Midwest. "Tavern pizza" is a big-deal there. Fleur-de-lis somewhat is like that. I'll never forget the look on his face of disappointment when that pizza arrived

The job of a business is to make money. They made money for SEVENTY YEARS and ended up with a business possibly worth a 4.5 million dollar pay out. Yet, that’s a failed business?
YES, the owners let it get out of date and didn’t upgrade for modern times, but they were happy working with the way it was and finally decided to stop working and live their lives with their money. Bravo to them. If we could all be so lucky.

You do understand that a failed business is one that is no longer open? They didn’t retire, they were retired.

Nobody made them close. They didn’t want to put in the extra work to keep it going. That includes remodeling and employee issues. They are deciding to sell their business. They still have a business possibly worth 4.5 million. They are choosing to sell it rather than reopen.

I would sell my business right now for a quarter of that and you’d never see my white arse again
and my business is very successful

So many on this board are insufferable. Let’s check the boxes with Fleur De Lis:
- local business, locally owned
- not a chain
- iconic business, brand, building
- iconic food product (square pizza)
- 70 years
- all the nostalgia in the world
- cold beer and homemade pizza
You’d think those points are exactly what this board looks for in a place.
I understand the pizza wasn’t fantastic but it was plenty good for 70 years. And if the owner was mean to you, then I completely get not wanting to go back. And I understand they needed to clean the place up. I have no quarrels with anyone who doesn’t think the restaurant is worth their business.
But why the absolute disdain for this place? Because it’s popular? This board hates any local business that’s popular or mainstream. I’ve never seen so many douches shite on their own local businesses as much as I do here. It’s not enough for you to just say you don’t like the food, no, you have to crap on the business and insist nobody ever goes there again so you can laugh at the business when it closes. There’s plenty of places I don’t like and I don’t go to, and I’ll tell you why I don’t like it, but I don’t root for them to close.

No clue if it is. That’s the number they are asking. It seems very high to me. Only time will tell. The property and the equipment, I’m sure, are the most valuable part of the business.
Do I hope a local family who operated a business for 70 years gets 4.5 million? Hell yes!

Point blank it sucked. As you said, poorly run, rude ownership, terrible food. If you think a business should be successful based on that I truly hope you aren't in the hospitality industry.
