I stopped at Don's on Saturday and picked up some Boudin, Cracklins and a stuffed chicken. Don's boudin was delicious, but the stuffed chicken (crab and cornbread) was OK. the cracklin was way too meaty and not enough crunch.

What's the best place for the boudin, cracklin and other cajun meats at the Scott exit, specifically? Here's the choices:

1. Don's Specialty Meats
2. Billy's Boudin and Cracklin
3. Early's Supermarket
4. Mike's Country Corner
5. The Best Stop
6. Romero's

This thread pops up alot.
Most will argue between Don's, Billy's, and Best Stop. All are better in certain categories than others. You won't get one solid answer.
And most will say Don's boudin sucks.

I say, try them all yourself, and you decide. Because there is no consensus here.

I've only had the smoked boudin from Best Stop, and it is fantastic

I agree with bbrou, go get a link from each place and give us a report

I usually don't buy boudin from any of those, T-Boys in Mamou is my all time favorite but I have had the boudin from Billy's (usually the Opelousas or Krotz Spring location), Don's, and Best Stop. Of all of those, I'd say Best Stop's boudin is the best of the boudin at the Scott exit. I've also had stuffed fryers from Don's and was not impressed. If you have the opportunity, get some of each and make your own choice, boudin, like most foods, is all subject to what a person likes and you really can't be wrong if you stick to what you like. If you ever make it to the Mamou or Eunvie area, check out T-Boys, there boudin beat out all of those guys at the boudin cook off and their crawfish étouffée stuffed fryers are top notch!

Just call Trout Bandit. He knows. If you want a stuffed chicken you have to go to Hebert's.

ETA: Summary: Billy's has the balls. Best Stop has great links and marinated pork bits and rabbit. If you want a great stuffed chicken go to the source. Hebert's.

Not only that, but the places aren't completely consistent either. Hebert's off of I=10 normally has awesome cracklins but last time I could barely eat them

I did the same thing the first time I clicked on it. I almost posted "WTF where is the beer?!" and then re-read the title
