Fwiw, it's almost too close to call between abrasive and DJ. I think Abrasive is more bitter and hoppier but DJ may be slightly better overall.

2 damn fine DIPAs. We are talking degrees of greatness.

I love Pliny too, but I prefer the Abrasive/DJ style.

I wonder what opinions would be like if we could order Heady online, like we can Pliny, DJ, & Abrasive... and if Abrasive was not seasonal.

Took the past couple of days off. Probably won't have a beer until Thursday evening or Friday. I would like to get my growler filled at the Nola Brewing Taproom. Do they allow you to fill a different brewer's growler or must you have a Nola Brewing growler? Also, will they allow you to fill your growler with their "specialty" beers? Any suggestions on which beer to go for?

Oh, next time I order from out west I'm getting you a couple of Plinys. That's a promise. I've just become a bit disenchanted with it myself lately. I've had 20+ Pliny, 20+ DJ, and at least that many Abrasives in the past year. Pretty sure my last couple of orders included no Pliny. I'm just wondering what my personal rating of the world class DIPAs would be if I'd had that many Heady's. Just kinda thinking out loud. But like Kim, I love me some research. And more is needed.

I hear what your saying. The thing i disagree with though, and it happens everywhere with beer ratings, is that rarer/harder to get should not mean its a better beer. I get what KJ is saying about preferring the Abrasive style of DIPA, and that's cool and all, and that's what's so exciting about the craft beer movement, there is something for everyone these days.

I'm glad you're picking up what I'm laying down. Because I'm not sure it was making sense. There's no right or wrong... it's all subjective.

Even if I find DIPAs I like more, I will always have a place in my heart for Pliny. It was the first beer I tried that just blew me away and made me really get in to hoppy beers...Jockamo almost ruined them for me.

There is no telling how many people have decided they "don't like IPAs" because of Jockamo.
