So what's your favorite Louisiana beer?

Commotion, Opus Vert and GITM for me

Edit: any suggestions for good LA stouts

Depends.

If I want an IPA then it will be an OPUS. In the mood for a more bitter beer then either Commotion or Ghost. Just got done mowing the yard?! In April/May Southcoast or an Envie, In June-Sept Canebrake. Fishing or out in the summer heat?! gonna roll with a ragin cajun because those guys while not complex drink some kind of smooth.

ETA: I classified Commotion as a DIPA , not meant as an insult to Great Raft, but it's not as smooth as OPUS, drinks more like Ghost, more harsh. No I am not saying it is equal to Ghost, only that it drinks similar. It's a sipper not gulper.

Let the downvotes commence because I cannot clearly communicate my meaning.

Couldn't give you a favorite, but I'm always encouraged when I come home to LA and have new local brews to try. The beer scene has drastically improved since I left about 3 years ago.

Commotion is not a double and should not even be in the same sentence as ghost. Hell, it shouldn't even be in the same sentence as Envie imo.

Ghost

Great Raft's regular Old Mad Joy is probably number 2.

Strongly disagree, but we're all entitled to our own opinions.

My favorite Louisiana beer was Bayou Teche Couteau Rodaire.

Wow. For much of the dislike they seem to get on this board...

Would depend on the mood for me. Ghost/Envie if I'm in a hop mood. I like BT's Miel Sauvage best if in a mood for something other than a hop blast.

To each their own. But I am just not a fan of commotion at all.

Eta: my mind may change if I had it fresh. It's always 2-3 months old on shelves here.

i was a fan right when it started being distributed down here but lost interest. Last time I had it (3-4 months ago) it tasted like they substituted the hops with onions

My rookie taste buds can't point it out.. But there is something I taste in that beer I really don't like.

the sunny D versions of Ghost, not the cat piss versions though

the LA beer I drink the most of is Commotion though, I might like Envie slightly better, but its not that much better and Commotion is in cans, so it wins as my everyday backyard drinker
