How do you feel about this?

Personally, it angers me that they're too cheap to pay the credit card processing fees. I'm fine with a minimum charge amount too, but not accepting credit cards in 2012 is ridiculous.

What even makes me more mad is when it says, " no cash, ATM in back."

That is all.

This.
Mosca's can screw off for this very reason.

If the mom and pop asian restaurants and other small eateries can somehow figure out how to make it work with credit cards, a place like Mosca's should be able too also.

I hate it. I can understand a small little mom and pop place but not bigger places. Super annoying.

The cash or check only clause really puzzles me. I could see this in 1998, but not in 2012.

Once this happens to me once, I don't go back for a second visit. Pizza Man in Covington is the only exception for me.

Fleur De Lis in BR and Adolfo's in NOLA.

Two of my favorite spots.

Stopping and getting cash on way is not that hard.

A friend that owns a place in Metairie paid Mastercard $75,000 last year.

He thought about going cash only, but realized it would piss too many people off.

A small business owner would love to have the loyal clientele that doesn't mind paying in cash. Can save them upwards of $30k/year depending on volume.

I was talking with one of the owners of a popular po-boy and plate lunch place in old metairie about this. He had just started taking cards in the recent past. Can't remember, but it was a big number he was paying.
He said it was nothing though compared to the business he was going to lose from businesses who needed catering and gift cards, etc during the holidays.

I pretty much will avoid any business of any kind that will not take my credit card. Sals snoball stand is one of the few I will still pay cash too.

Even had a damn very busy pharmacy by my house that just started taking cards 1.5 years ago. Of course 65% of their business were blue hairs who didn't mind writing checks.

This is what really pisses me off. They can't afford the CC processing fees but they want me to give them 3 bucks for using the ATM...haha yea right.

It's obvious that places that do this sort of crap don't care about their customers.

Damn.
Well 3 things:
1. He lied
2. He is kicking arse
3. MC is screwing him

Credit card fees vary from 2-3% generally.

MasterCard on average usually accounts for less than 1/3 of credit card sales in restaurants.

He'd have to be doing over 10 mill in sales.

That's some serious volume.

I've only seen a handful of restaurants that hit those numbers...anywhere.

That's what I've heard almost verbatim.

Y.A.,

Yeah, the place ain't going anywhere.

He's not doing 10 mil in sales, I know that.

My guess would be between 2-3, and that would put him around that 75K mark.

So I don't think that was b.s.
