Citrus marinated and then charbroiled. Used to be simple and very good 30 years ago in Cali. Today the menu has more choices but sometimes the chicken gets dry. I get it whenever I see it. Houston has several.

There's one close to where I live. Have never been to it. I get great coupons that have good deals - the tostada salads look pretty darn good.
The problem with this one is there is an El Rey Taqueria right across the street. A Mexican/Cuban place that makes the best damn fish tacos I have ever had.

El Rey has Cuban sandwiches, rotisserie chicken (never have tried), Carnita Tacos, Ropa Vieja Tacos, Shrimp Tempura Tacos, the El Rey which is the grilled fish taco and much, much more.
I have not been able to force my truck to pull into the El Pollo Loco parking lot with El Rey sitting right there staring at me.

There used to be a chain of chicken huts in Guatemala with the same name in the 80's, wonder if it is related.
It was great chicken with an ice cold Gallo.

Its a good option if you want something healthy at lunch
they have a grilled citrus chicken bowl thats really good andn not the cookie cutter stuff
Taco Cabana is the shite BTW. I can remember going to them in college at 3am and waiting in a line out the door. lol

They have a ton of stuff on the menu, but the best thing they serve is the chicken.
I usually order 2 breasts a la carte with a side of tortillas; total is less than $6 iirc. They also have meal deals where you can get sides of rice or beans.
They have a really good salsa bar, my favorite is the avocado salsa and their original.
Their burritos are ok, but I don't think they give you enough meat (probably my least favorite burrito from any Mexican fast food joint). They also have tacos, salads, etc.
