Heading to Paris in a few months for the first time. Would love recommendations on places to try over there.

Parisbymouth.com is by far the best resource. Use it. There are other sites but that one is great.
L'Ami Jean, Spring, Le Chateaubriand, Septime were all incredible but very difficult to get reservations.
I can give a few more depending on what you want.

Whatever you do, don't tip since it is already on your bill.
And do stop at one of those carts on the Champs-elysee' and get a hotdog. They take a small French bread loaf and hollow out the middle with a stainless steel rod, fill the middle with ketchup and mustard and insert a high quality hotdog inside.

David Lebovitz has some nice restaurant recs on his site: LINK
By far, my favorite thing to do/eat in Paris is bakery stuff. Whether sweets from Stohrer or Kayser or savory stuff from du Pain et des Idees, it's all good.

Get pain au chocolat from one of these places.
10 pain au chocolat in Paris
Not that I've ever had pain au chocolat.
Or been to Paris.

What part of town are you staying in? What type of restaurant are you looking for? I have been several times and am going back in April. I will be happy to give recommendations.

bistrotters in the 14th arrondissement LINK
wife really enjoyed their veggie tart and I loved their meat dishes. really a delightful dining experience, and the owner is one of the nicest people that you'll meet in Paris.

Staying in the 2nd. Open for anything, but would like to go to a French bistro at some point

My favorite meal of my trip:
Josephine (Chez Dumonet). We split the foie gras, then I had a half portion boeuf bourgignon and my husband had duck confit. Drank a bottle of Burgundy and split a grand marnier souffle. I honestly won't ever forget that meal.
I also had a wonderful, reasonably priced lunch at Pirouette.
I didn't think Septime was worth going out of my way for, unfortunately. Perhaps I had built it up too much in my head.
Chowhound is another great source in addition to Paris By Mouth and Lebovitz.

Do Paul Bert or Lami Jean for the Bistro

Many good restaurants in and around the 2nd. Frenchie is one of our favorites and it is in the 2nd. Very hard to get reservations but worth the effort. La Bourse et la Vie is a bistro in the 2nd. Near the 2nd is the Palais Royal neighborhood where they have some very good wine bars that serve food including Verjus, Juveniles and Willi's Wine Bar. A few blocks away on rue du Mail is Chez George, one of our favorite upscale French bistros. For a fun, loud, boisterous and more casual bistro, try Chez Denise a/k/a/ La Tour de Montlhery near Les Halles. One of our favorite restaurant rows in Paris is rue St. Dominique on the other side of the river at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. There are dozens of very good restaurants near there including Le Violon de Ingre, Le Fables de Fontaine (exotic seafood), Café Constant, Le Fontaine de Mars, and Chez L'Ami Jean.

Cafe du Marche order the duck confit. Lots of good places on rue cler. Cheaper cafes. Great food

Was there in June. Porte 12 was the best meal I had. Chefs choice menu with wine pairing. Was unreal.

And they say that now in Paris, France, even as we speak, Louis Pasteur has devised a new vaccine that will obliterate anthrax once and for all.

I liked Chez Michele (will scratch French food itch), da rosa, L'atelier de Joel Robuchon, countless chocolate and bakeries, and Huiterie Regis for the best oysters you can imagine.
