Which one? I lived there for 5 years so I'm more interested in the newer places and my old go to spots.

I'll yield to the texans, but I love the brisket tacos at Taco Cabana

Escalantes is terrible. Gloria's is better than Cyclone. El Real...only if you stumble drunk out of the Hay Merchant and mistakenly find yourself at Caswells mexican experiment.

I asked this ? 2 weeks ago. I ended up eating at Guadalajara. Twice. Very fresh ingredients. It was recommended over Ninfa's on Navigation.

I'm just throwing stuff out there to help someone out, these places don't necessarily reflect my personal taste/favorites because I like some of the places earlier also. I'm not stupid enough to think that im the only person with an opinion on tex-mex food in Houston.

His whole family went to my high school. Great family and great BBQ.

And I second Ninfas on Navigation for Mexican food.

I'm partial to El Tiempo over Lupe personally. Both of their steak fajitas are unreal.

Gaitlin's is real legit as well for BBQ. It's one of the best parts about living in the Heights!

Way overrated IMO. Their charro beans are the best thing they have. I'm partial to El Tiempo and Ninfas on Navigation. If you want off the beaten path go to Theotihuacan on Airline Dr. (off of I-45N) The food is unreal.

Theotihuacan
