I know it was posted in the Mellow Mushroom thread earlier, but figured it could be a stand alone post.

I go to Dragos a few times a year to support them for being such a good supporter of the community. Outside of what they did after Katrina, they are big about supporting many charity events, including my kids school and a big Children's Hospital event.

With that said, the place just doesn't do much for me other than the grilled oysters.

Glad they're coming but they could not have picked a worse location. Prayers sent

I'll copy/paste my response from the other thread.

Unpopular opinion, I think regardless of location, pricing will be their downfall. They'll sell a ton of oysters but they'll have a tough time slinging $20+ plates of fried shrimp, red beans, and etouffee around Lafayette.

That spot is cursed and Lafayette will not pay their prices. It's doomed

I don't agree with you guys. I went against the grain here and said Cochon would not make it in Lafayette and I'm going to go against the grain here again and say Drago's will be a huge success there.

I'm no fan of Drago's either ...

Not to mention sharing a parking lot with a movie theater that's full of trash at night, good luck ! Again, money people won't be there after the initial rush.

Article states they signed a 20 year lease. That's crazy. I hope they make it, though.

Toucan's maybe? I think Serrano's had built a new building that Mellow Mushroom renovated.

I don't think they'll be successful, but Don's, Charlie G's, Riverside Inn, dwights, and Blue dog have all made great business out of $20 plates of fried shrimp, etc.

If the past is a predictor of the future...The Metairie location is great, I've been going there since the early 80's. I used to like to sit in the oyster bar and hear stories from Mr. Dragovich.

The one downtown in the Hilton is terrible, it is like a completely different operation, similar in name only. That being said it is the top grossing restaurant of any restaurant in any Hilton worldwide, go figure.

In all likelihood the one in Lafayette will do well initially, but it doesn't seem they can sustain quality at more than one location.

The Corner Bar crowd is trashy to you? Spare yourself and never go downtown.
