think regardless of location, pricing will be their downfall. They'll sell a ton of oysters but they'll have a tough time slinging $20+ plates of fried shrimp, red beans, and etouffee around Lafayette.

Where are all these great restaurants selling cheap plates of fried shrimp, red beans and etouffee? ...and please don't say 'Don's'.

Also, this makes no sense, because as far as I remember, Drago's doesn't serve red beans and etouffee.

That spot is cursed and Lafayette will not pay their prices. It's doomed

Then why is Ruth's Chris, Ruffino's, Marcello's, Pamplona, etc. packed every night? Lafayette residents will pay for good food.

Also, Drago's prices are extremely reasonable. I remember their Lobster special being one of the cheapest boiled lobsters I have had in a restaurant.

Outside of their grilled oysters, their food is overpriced and underwhelming. I quite going a couple years back.

You might want to check their menu again.

Shuck's has the chargrilled oysters in BR on lockdown. Drago's didn't want any part of the boys from Abbeville.

The only person I have met who has enjoyed Shucks is a total non-foodie, she will eat manure if the decor is pretty and they have nice place settings. My 2 experiences were both disasters, cold entrees, wrong orders, wrong checks.

Someone in our dining club inquired about having an event there, he was shouted down by 20 angry people.

Don's has good oysters sometimes. I know most of the staff cause I have a drink there pretty often so I just ask if they are good before ordering

ETA: I've only been to Hilton Drago's and have never left impressed

So on this menu, do you feel like red beans is a featured item?

Define "featured item". If you scroll down far enough you'll see red beans and etouffee

$8 for a side of red beans and rice. Are they drunk? I think I could cook 6lbs for $8.

I've eaten there probably 10 times and never noticed, nor would it cross my mind to order those entrees. Char-grilled oysters, lobster, fish of the day, pasta, great salads...
