This service costs $99/year (or $14/month) and includes unlimited free deliveries on orders over $35. HEB is a partner, which is where we shop.

We go grocery shopping once a week, so this would come out to essentially a $2 delivery each time. My question for those who use it, how quick do you receive your groceries? Is it worth it? They have an option to become a shopper, so the people buying and delivering your groceries are basically Uber drivers. It makes me a little uncomfortable that some random person would be handling my produce, but packaged items seem less risky.

I used it a couple of times. You actually set the delivery time table. So one saturday morning I woke up, made my shopping list and requested a delivery time between 10 and 11 (or something like that). A couple of the items weren't available so the shopper would contact me via text to see about alternatives. As for delivery, I had one guy actually just hand me everything at the door, nice and simple. The next time the girl had used her own tote bags to help her carry the groceries up (they were still bagged) and wanted to actually bring the groceries to my kitchen. I didn't care for that to happen, so I just pulled the bags out of the totes right there at the door.

No issues at all with produce...they bagged them like you would for fresh produce, and then just wash 'em off as you always would.

Prices are a little more expensive than going yourself and you also should probably tip the shopper (I always did) so it's gonna end up costing you 10-15% more by having everything delivered if I had to make an uneducated guess.

When it was all said and done, I just didn't feel like it was worth the monthly expense for as little as I used it, but it was kinda cool.

This is consistent with my experience. Though I find that I make up the 10-15% in crap that I don't buy just because I saw it in the grocery store.

It is based here in Birmingham, and we've been using it almost a year. My wife found a Black Friday deal last year online where the annual membership was only $50 instead of $100, so we jumped on it. Similar to the other responses, we've used it some, but it seems like we haven't used it much in the past month. Here they partner with Publix and a local grocery store called Western supermarket. I love that because the Western has better meats and produce.

My wife works part time and we have a small child, so if she can save taking him to the store after a half day of work, she would much rather just log into the app and place an order. And it has saved all of those trips to the store for me after work when we just needed a few things. You're paying for convenience.

All of the shoppers we have had deliver have been helpful, and some even like to bring it in for you. I don't have a problem with that. One of our good friends is a shopper and she loves that it is like Uber and flexible. She can log in and see orders in her area and select them. She says it is worth it when you get 2-3 orders at the same time and you can shop for that and deliver them all within a few minutes.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't considered that the actual prices might be higher than the store, or the tip for the shopper.

So, you could order on Saturday morning and get it that same day?

Any issues with no shoppers grabbing your list in a timely manner?

Most of the time you can get your orders within about 2 hours. A shopper has to select it, then of course do the shopping, but they're pretty quick. They will also text you or call you if they're out of something on your list. The good thing is the Shipt app has all of the specials like BOGO or 2 for something loaded in it, so you get to see what is on sale. I think they do have a little bit of markup on some things, but it isn't enough to really matter.

We have never submitted an order and not had it filled. I was actually at my parents house last night visiting family that was in town and we were talking about Shipt. Seems my Mom gets the same couple of shoppers over and over. My sister said the same. They usually order and want it delivered in the evening after work, and I guess the shoppers do their shopping in patterns as well.

yeah, I literally submitted my list on a saturday at like 8:30 or 9am and had it delivered by 11am, it was the first delivery time available.

Very cool. I love the idea for making sure everything you have is always fresh and reducing the size of the list and frequency of the shopping. We never thought about it because going more than once a week is a pain with two young kids.

Do they deliver alcohol too? And I assume everything else in the store is available (toiletries, diapers, baby food, etc.)

We use Amazon Prime Now(Groceries and Restaurants), Instacart, and UberEats. Being social and going to stores/restaurants is for losers.

I'm guessing it's different out in the suburbs, but Instacart delivers from Specs here in the hood.

I'm really interested in this shipt service since it has Kroger and central market whereas primenow only has sprouts which is extremely limited in things I actually buy.

Do it.

The only reason I go to the store anymore is to grab something real quick on the way home from work or to sit at the bar and the creep on women shopping in yoga pants.

I don't believe they deliver alcohol (at least in BHM). I'm assuming they would deliver toiletries etc.
