Does anyone else like the flavor of hickory smoke on chicken?

I like it, but a lot of things I read say to avoid it so that it doesn't overpower the chicken.

Ideally, I like a bunch of pecan and just a little hickory for my poultry.

I like to toss a spring of fresh rosemary onto the coals with some wood. Makes for a nice smoke.

I used peach yesterday to really good effect.

I usually use apple for chicken. Hickory is a good mild flavor for all meats. I don't mind a heavy smoke flavor.

I used pecan tonight on some legs. They came out great. I normally use hickory, but my neighbor hooked me up with a bunch of pecan, so I've been using that up lately

I smoke with hickory on my whole chickens. I also inject it with creole butter and put Tony's on it.
