I have no idea why this is logically done. Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant knows that the aps are a money maker (food cost vs price)...it's not even some hidden secret.
But I haven't been able to date a single girl over 23 who will swipe left if I don't let her order an ap...and be happy about it.

Deserts maybe...appetizers.. HELL NO! Most restaurants charge $6 to $8 for their crappy appetizers... hell I can buy a decent burger meal for that alone!

We often order appetizers, we rarely order dessert.
At a few places the appetizer menu is more appealing than the entree choices, in which case it might be only appetizers.

Only time we order an app is when the wife and I are on a date, but we always order queso at any Mexican restaurant. Only time we order desert is if we're on a date at a real high end restaurant.

It all depends. Sometimes we order both and share an entree. Depends on the restaurant.

Always order an app, soup, and/or salad unless it is a super casual place (poboy shop or fried calamari app type place). OFten for good restaurants the best food is the apps. Almost never order a dessert. I hate waiting for desserts.

Ditto. I love soups and appetizers.
Only time I don't get appetizers is if I'm at a fatty feed me place with below average quality where you know a huge plate of food is coming out as entree and that soups/apps probably aren't that great anyway.

Yeah a lot of times the apps are the most creative dishes on a menu
and the coffee thing...if we get dessert, I'm definitely getting coffee afterwards

I avoid those places now. Portion sizes at most places are enough to feed two or three people.
