It's just something poor rural folks do for a quick tasty snack.
I thought it was called meth.

It puts a touch of salt in your Coke, but other than that, nothing.

There is already salt in coke. About 45 mg.

People did this when I was a kid. Never thrilled me. I wanted my Coke unadulterated.

My favorite application was Lance peanuts in a Sunkist Orange drink.

Second (not as good) choice was in a grape drink.

Usually did this on Saturday mornings at Putt Putt golf course. In those days I had an 8 year old's dreams of being a professional putter someday. Then I discovered women and lost my accuracy on the through the windmill putt.

Wish I had a nickle for every time I dipped into my inventor..... Oh wait

MeridianDog
Tuesdays route has me going to the Newton school board, and that's literally the only thing I have to do.
So I figure lunch in and/or around Meridian is in order.

Any suggestions?

Or can I come to your house for red beans... No wait that's Monday.

Tuesday is is either Pork or Pasta and is desided by what's on Thursdays.

This brings back memories. And you have to use a real glass bottle of coke. No plastic.

This.

I thought there was just a generational gap earlier in the thread until I noticed Zach didn't know what this was. Quite a common practice when I was growing up.

Well, you know we no longer live in Meridian. Moved back to my home town in March of this year. In meridian I would eat lunch at the Vietnamese Po boy place in the gas station on H-39 immediately north of the BMW dealership. The second Vietnamese poboy place is on 8th Street about three blocks west of First Baptist Church. It is in an old Pizza Hut building on the north side of 8th street. Recommend the Shrimp or Oyster PoBoy or Catfish.

Another option would be Thai Krai on North Hills one block off H-19 west. Anything on their menu is good.

I'm long over due for a piping hot bowl of pho and a carrot laiden Bánh mì.

I'll stop in at one of the two and report back.

Agreed, similar aged and ibuse to do this when I was a kid because my grandfather and my dad would do it. Was never too fond of it. I thought everybody in the South had heard of this.

Also, who remembers coke and pickle juice?? Similar thing that I used to do as a kid, (taught by my dad) especially when we were about to watch a big movie on VHS and have popcorn.

That looks rank. Hell no kids don't do that anymore. I've never even heard of that.

I was blown away while listening to the song "I was country, when country wasn't cool" there's a lyric in the song "I was putting peanuts in my Coke"....I always thought they were saying coat. Was riding around one day, the song came on, and someone pointed out the lyric and my mind was blown. I need to try this.
