Looking for any suggestions for a good date spot. Nothing super fancy, wearing jeans. Going to a concert at the Acadiana Center for the Performing Arts, so maybe something around there?

Antoni's Italian is right around the corner. Solid food, not expensive or dressy
Blue Dog Cafe is a Lafayette staple.
Ruth's Chris is down the road as well.

Cafe Bella is what you're looking for.

I have heard that Sizzling Monkey has good food, and it's in the next block. I know for fact that you can't go wrong with Pamplona, which is right around the corner from ACA. Get the white sangria.

Some of you are confusing ACA with the Heymann. The Acadiana Center for the Arts is downtown.

Pamplona is across the street, great spot. Marcello is best food in town.

100% guilty.

OP go to Pamplona, Tsunami, Cafe Bella or if you want to try something different the Wurst Biergarten has food and some good beer. I think they are doing a "Winter Beer takeover" tonight where all of their taps will be from different breweries pushing their winter style beers.

I would third Pamplona

it's a half a block from ACA

Drinks are good and they have a great menu

Other than that.. Agave is downtown and within walking distance.

Or if you like sushi, tsunami is a few blocks up (easy walk) and they have fantastic sushi and an awesome kobe ribeye.

While the food at Sizzling Monkey was good, it's very expensive for what you get and the service is downright awful. Definitely suggest going to Pamplona and walking to ACA for JIsbell

Bon Temps Grill has unreal food. One of my favorite places to eat, not too expensive either

Agreed, we went once when it first opened. Had the brisket fries($11) which were great, then both did their On the Rock options where you cook your own food. She had the chicken($8) and I had the shrimp(They gave you 5 for $11). It was good but nothing to write home about, had it not been for an appetizer we both would've left hungry. We haven't been back since, and probably won't be, to try out some of their other offerings but paying money to cook my own food was kinda lame, especially since it was such a small portion.

Had the same experience with that place.

Too many other good choices already mentioned: Agave, Tsunami. I would add French Press and Don's - all within a block on Vermillion Street.

People keep praising Pamplona. Sure, it's good, with a good atmosphere, and good mixologists. But I always leave there hungry. You spend a lot of money for all those tapas plates and never really get satisfied, IMO.
