I know. And when I say something, my friends like this think I'm being a snobby bitch. They just don't get it.. or care.

Brag can live close to a real airport and restaurants. He can always sell his house to the next EBP resident willing to live in culinary hell. I see uptown NO in your future.

Just got home from Cafe Phonecia. It was as good as any Greek/Lebanese that I have had in BTR.

Jambalaya Shoppe and VooDoo BBQ are in the same strip as CP. Both solid, IMO.

Had Rotolo's calzone last night. Very good.

True, no earthshaking meals of a lifetime, but one can eat three or four perfectly acceptable meals in DS.

(I did go to lunch at Chili's last week at my son's request. For the burger, not a cultural experience.)

ETA: My daughter was wearing pants over her diaper.

Longhorn has to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. However, you are wrong about there being nothing in Denham. La Tiendita, Jake's BBQ, New Orleans Poboy, Green Cafe and that sushi place near Bass Pro are all perfectly reasonable places to eat.

Sure, there is still a lot of stuff that I wouldn't feed a dog (like Longhorn, Chili's or Cactus Cafe.) But Denham is actually moving in the right direction food-wise.

Had some decent sushi from that place... if you can believe a good sushi restaurant next to Bass Pro in the LP is possible

If you are looking for something specific, such as food seafood, Baton Rouge is a better choice. If you just want a good meal, the decent ones are listed. If you are looking for a nice atmosphere, you will not find it in Denham.

Jake's BBQ,

Been meaning to try this since it is close to the house. It's ok? Do they have burgers? (Kid and hubby not so much on BBQ.)

Well maybe I misread his intentions, but I assumed when traveling out of town and asking people about where to eat, he wasn't referring to what's "good enough". Like I said, I might have misunderstood, but if I was traveling to another state and asking people where to eat, I'd want to know where I can get something great.. not what okay restaurants are nearby.

These are all okay. I went to Rotolos tonight, and I've eaten there plenty of times in BR as well. But all three of these restaurants you named here are in BR and never anywhere near my #1 choice for food.

I just would rather direct a person traveling here to something great.. not something that's the best choice considering the area.

Drive to NOLA. People from BR looking down on Denham amuse me.

Which is in BR.
Gino's
Bistro Byronz
Chelsea's
Louisiana Lagniappe
Enoteca Marcello
etc. etc.

If he isn't in the state often, Sammy's or Parrain's or something to get some decent quality "LA" food.

IDK I just don't think Denham has an accurate representation of the food here and unless he's just looking for a place that's "acceptable" enough to fill up on.

I am not "from" BR. I live in Denham. I am from Central. It's no secret that there isn't brilliant food here.

Driving to NOLA when you're working assumably all day 3 days during a week isn't exactly tangible. I think about Brag who travels for his job, and he'd never drive 1+ hours away after working all day for dinner when he's waking up to work again the next day.

If there is a chance/time to drive to NOLA, OBVIOUSLY do it, but don't act like that's a walk down the street.

i don't get you people with all this negative talk about chili's, y'all are startin' to piss me off.

the delicate & delicious flavors of the southwestern eggrolls will make you feel like there's a hootenanny going on inside your mouth. yes, they are that good.
