I am probably in the minority but I wasn't that crazy about Dempseys French Dip.

It seemed to be more of a wet gravy 3 napkin roast beef poboy than an actual French Dip.

Don't be ashamed. Their chicken sandwich (both Cheesecake Bistro and Copelands has it) may be the GOAT chicken sandwich.

Sammys makes a fine French dip

J Alexanders as well

Capital City Grill isn't bad either if you're downtown.

I am not a fan either. It's a legit roast that they make in the oven and carve and all, but they don't do "au jus" .. they do a gravy instead.

Honestly, I'm going to catch hell for this, but I'm not a fan of roast beef/french dip poboys in general. Not extremely flavorful no matter where I've ordered them from.

I'd eat Byronz's pot roast as a sandwich (they actually do make that), but otherwise.. meh.

Been wanting to go there. Is it any good? What kind of Philly cheesesteak do they do?

It's legit. Tastes like a real philly except with choices of better cheeses and better seasoned meat.

They have a daily special that's generally really good. It's 6 or 7 bucks for a small sandwich, a ton of fries, and a drink. Monday is the double burger (really good), Friday is the Shrimp Po'boy (legit), and the french dip is one day during the week.

They have cheese steaks that offer various toppings like onions, peppers, mushrooms, and different cheeses. They also have a pizza steak with marinara and mozzarella. There's also some chicken sandwiches on the menu and roast beef. All in all, a great place that I frequent when possible. There's 3 locations: Gonzales on Hwy 30 between Burnside and Airline, Prarieville on Airline in a shopping center across from the Wal-Mart, and in Baton Rouge on Sherwood near Coursey.

I like SoP too, but I wouldn't recommend the buffalo wings.

They were really weird.
