I see you had to use the macro function on your camera so we could see the steak on the plate.

Looks pretty, I'm sure tasted wonderful, but I would feel like a total idiot if I spent major bucks for a whiff and a taste.

This is basically the exact opposite of what I just posted I could never eat all of that. The portions are small, yes, but because it is so many plates... no way.

It was 10 courses. I thought the portions were perfect. Any more and we would not have made it through. As it was we did not come close to finishing dessert.

It's no secret I'm not as evolved as most posters on this board.

What the hell are you talking about?

I have no idea who you are. But I think 10 courses is a lot of food. As I said, I am a very light eater. But still.

Think of a chef's table like Thanksgiving. When you go around the spread and make your plate on Thanksgiving, you don't get massive portions of everything. Why? Because there are 10+ items to choose from. So you get little spoonfuls of everything to make sure you get a taste of it all. Same kind of deal.

The chef is making you 10 plates of food. If he gives you a normal portion for each one, people will be tossing food into the trash by the 3rd course.

ARTICHOKE BISQUE!!!!!

I ate Lundi Gras Brunch at Commander's when I was at LSU with a buddy who was old-line NOLA bred. He just nochalantly mentioned that they had a seat open that day and I should come along. We sat with the Brennan's and it was an other-worldly meal as one could imagine. I had no idea who we were sitting with until about half way through the meal which really made me look like an idiot.

Of all the things that day (and we had the run of the menu) I will never, ever forget the Artichoke Bisque. I have been back numerous times over the year and always ask but it was never on the menu. I will be going now just to get it.

It was such a great evening.

And for anyone talking about it not being enough food, I'm not sure if a buffet would not be a better option for you. Our eating time was spread out well over 3 hours and we were almost too full for the desserts.

I'm not a huge wine person, but doing a meal with a wine pairing really opens your mind to what a good pairing can do for you. It started with the champagne and went with the port style with dessert.
Amazing doesn't even beging to describe this whole experience.

The chef devoted almost all of his time to preparing our food. We had our own dedicated server who was there for anything we needed the whole time.

Awesome pics! We did it back in August and they served us completely different dishes. The variety and quality was incredible.

Definitely worth the money as a bucket-list experience IMO. I didn't realize how much I was going to enjoy the suspense and excitement of not knowing what was coming next, especially after the first few courses were so awesome.

I fasted for the entire day and still left the place hurting from being so full. We definitely didn't finish the dessert bomb and I'm pretty sure we didn't finish the cheese course as well. Our waiter said almost nobody finishes dessert.

Yeah, the waiter said the dessert bomb isn't meant to be finished. We did our best and we're not even close

That's why I mentioned that I was disappointed in it. IMO, dessert at the chef's table shouldn't be a collection of all the desserts off the regular menu. It should be two new, unique and fantastic desserts.

If $125.00 is "major bucks" to you then you would BE and idiot if you spent it.

I've done it twice, the first in Spring 2001 just before Jamie Shannon left for good and his treatment at MD Anderson, the second in 2010 for my wife's historic birthday and both times it was $125.00 with same price for wine pairings.Plus they let you take your coat off to dine and you get the private bar off the kitchen.

I'd like to think it's a very good deal. They could up it $50.00 a person and you still would wait 8 months for a Saturday night. (and I'll give my hot tip-book on a Thursday and the wait is half as long-I've been both on Thursdays)

That looks amazing. Did each person get to pick their own dessert or did they just bring out a bunch of them to the table and everyone got to take a bite off of each others? Just curious because all the other courses were the same but then there are pictures of so many different desserts and they look like big servings.

Dessert was a shared event. They brought out full size serving of all the desserts on the menu and we split them. Pretty cool. Way too much dessert though.
