I'm convinced slacks and polo are the equivalent of little black dress for women. It's something you should always have and wear if an occasion like this comes up.

I have a sad that polo shirts are considered dressy. Playing polo, yes. Playing golf, sure. Backyard BBQ on the weekend, great. Getting dressed up, nah.

ETA: I recognize that civilization is in decline and that I have lost that fight, but I will go down with a proper martini in one hand while wearing my blazer and pocket square.

In honor of page 3 of this thread ( and since the rain stopped) I made a very large Bombay Saffire martini with 1 anchovy and 1 bleu cheese stuffed olives which I hoist to my fellow Food Board members and lurkers while I sit on my front balcony and watch the people exercising.

My egg is lit with chicken thighs on it just for the smell and because they were thawed and needed cooking.

I have seersucker shorts and an untucked white starched button down on with Cole Hahn tasseled loafers no socks. A little plate of cheese and grapes next to me.

Hear Hear!

I like you. And I still need to get my hands on some of those anchovy stuffed olives. Enjoy.

Oh I'm enjoying. You as well. I got tired of walking downstairs to make another so I made a pitcher. Think the thighs are on fire.

Your choice of shoes is very Cosby sweaterish.

Well a few things. First I'm not a colored gentleman. Second I'm in my own home enjoying this fine evening, which it certainly has turned out to be. Third left shoe is one my foot, right shoe is in the azalea bush below. Pitcher of martinis half gone.

Well I did my best Otis imitation.

Digging my shoe out of the azaleas. I couldn't say seersuckers at the seashore three times to save my arse.

The neighbors brought over their own pitcher of vodka martinis. I made a second pitcher of gin martinis.

I just woke the neighbor up to get the hell off my shoe.
