Then start counting calories and stop worrying about sodium, and you wont be a fat arse any more.

Houma has some decent "real mex" if you look around. Taqueria La Magnolia on Prospect (good tamales), Taqueria DF on Grand Caillou, Taqueria El Jalisco (where I had the surreal experience of eating a taco while watching a ranchera music video version of Hank William's "Jambalaya"). A little Spanish helps, but I've found people to be pretty friendly at all three.

There used to be a tortilleria near the Vietnamese grocery store on Prospect, it had tacos on the weekends only. Dunno if it's still open or not.

I hit LaMagnolia up for a Torta Lingua yestetday. Best $7 sandwhich around.

For years, La Magnolia has been slinging some tasty chow. The place was even repainted not too long ago. But that location isn't exactly the middle of town.

Go try the ceviche at El Jalisco, which also has a very good tomatillo salsa...or at least it did 6 mos or so ago. I haven't been in the place so recently. It's bare bones, but the young female servers were sweet and helpful.

In all honesty, calorie counting is as much of a crock of shite as sodium intake.

Every human being digests everything differently.

Where is El Jalisco?

1050 Grand Caillou Rd, in a little strip mall with a bodega/wire transfer store and a sometimes-nightclub.

Haven't read the whole thread but Chipotle sucks. No queso, no jalapenos, and cilantro on EVERYTHING

Please explain how it "tastes like shite" when you said it is standard peppers and corn?

I probably should have been clearer. I meant that the addition of standard corn (excuse me, roasted corn salsa) and peppers to their oversalted and soggy meats fails to prevent a shitty final product

The worst thing about Chipotle is the only hot sauce is Tabasco. At a Mexican inspired place? WTF?

My God I've met so many Louisiana folks who are so stupid to think flavored tortillas, jalapeños, and shitty queso at izzos is better than the superior product at chipotle.

Walk ons or zea updates.. anyone?

I haven't heard absolutely anything on Zea's. Walk On's was pushed back and could be up in the air due to Landry selling awhile back.

I'm hearing Walk On's is projected to be March of 2015 on the land in front of the new hotel on MLK by the Regions bank.

You know Houma must be on and poppin when a new fast food restaurant gets 5 pages on the food and drink board.

to my stomping ground.
