Something just doesn't seem right with this guy. Does he just not know how to run a place or just bad luck or just can't make up his mind or no capital or what? Maybe he just doesn't care one way or another. Y'all know so what is the boards thoughts?

Big dreams and lots of talent.

Capital does seem like a problem. Not sure if his ego doesn't get in the way sometimes.

I've never had his food- only what I hear on this board but his ego does seem to play a part or lack of ability to ignore social media and criticism.

Time with family already over?

I can't see how he wasn't making dough with those lines at the last place.

$50 four course dinner? Will it be BBQ or Filipino food?

Looks like it's his smoked prime rib dinner plus some other non-Filipino items.

Why he wouldn't just do BBQ catering at this point is beyond me, but it's obvious he's just shooting in the dark business-wise.

This guy. Shut down your entire business for a family illness but pop back up again only 2 weeks later?

Right because running a brick and mortar is the same thing as doing a pop up.

Making dough and managing dough are different animals. I see it all the time in industry. People get in the weeds in a hurry because they can't manage or they take much more than they should and are arrogant about it or greedy.

As I always say...I can get $5 million in work by the end of the week. It just might cost me $10 million to do it. Whether it is a restaurant or a lemonade stand if it's not managed properly it's closed. Lot of broke people that have no business in business.

Complete outsider looking in, but this wouldn't surprise me. He had top shelf ingredients and products, but sold at a really low price for the amount of work he put in.

Do you think he lied about the family illness so he could save face and get out of the brick and morter?

dont know for sure. but you'd think if he was making so much money like he was claiming, that he would need to stay open to support any medical bills for an illness

I don't think he lied about the illness, but I do think he used it as an excuse to close shop. Like...I don't think it was a life and death thing. I think it was convenient.

Just speculating here but what if the wife had to go get a job with benefits like health insurance ? She was a key employee in the brick n morter.

That's what I don't get. If I had that support and the relatively cheap rent, I would think the money he was bringing in with that place would help him more financially than closing down and doing whatever he is doing now. If both he and the wife worked there that means they had to get other jobs.
Seems like then you would spend even less time with family.
I don't know what his profits were like, sees to me if he needed more money he just had to get more product, there was no shortage of demand. He literally ran out every day.

His Social media crap burned so many bridges, had he been friendlier I think he would have got sweetheart deals like McClure's got with tapproom.

Another thing about BBQ is a lot of people are on the cusp of opening and then back down.
Rue 127's owner was supposed to open one, and I think people involved with a hog's cooking team were going to get one, but I went to their pop-up and it was meh, so won't mention the name of the team.
Rob needs to do catering, he would do great there, maybe get a trailer and cook outside the dome for gamedays. Or on frenchmen at night.

Most jobs you have to be employed for 90 days until benefits kick in. Why not just hire some people at $8 an hour to run the register and serve the food, all he has to do is cook.
