For what is described as an excellent meal, 20%.

Nice review. I also thought the tip was pretty light. I would have left a minimum of 20%, myself, especially with a group of 5.

Personally, I think the steaks at Charlie's are crap and the only thing good there is the onion strings.

That's what I said above. Never understood the love. Maybe they've gotten better with the new owners post-K, though.

Went last year for my dad's bday b/c he loves the place. I still thought it tasted like crap.

charlie's is a classic steak place. very good just sometimes the steaks come off as really buttery.

Side note...family was there before katrina and a busser (young black guy) and an old waiter (old white dude) got into a fist fight in the bar area. The white dude put the dukes up like old 20's style boxing. classic scene

How much should they have tipped?

5 guys spending that much... I feel like each could have dropped a 10 at least.
I respectfully disagree. I think the tip was just fine. Seriously. I normally tip 15%, so this is where I would have been. If you want to tip more, then, by all means, do so.

they changed the onion rings before K IMO

the rings arent as thin as they use to be and they dont fry them as long, i always ask for them crispy now

i miss it pre-k, wasnt as crowded....had a lot more dirt around the place back then too

Yep, mt1 on here introduced this place to me in 96 i believe. It is awesome. I didn't notice a big drop off after they reopened.
