Wasn't this magnolia cafe back in the day? The Sherwood corridor isn't what it was 15-20 years ago. A lot of for lease commercial real estate signs around that area is inauspicious.

Sorry to here that. The food there was always pretty good, I considered the place somewhat a hidden treasure, except for one thing, zero ambiance. They needed to redecorate about 10 years ago, the place was just drab and old looking. Some restaurants can overcome that, not many.

Have you walked into Don's on airline or Drusilla seafood?

Best pencil cut French fries in the city and the only place I'd eat a fry with ketchup. Don't know why because it was cold ketchup too but it just worked.

He had put it up for sale because he said he wanted to focus on Stroube's and the other one downtown. Guess the lease ran up. Not surprising but I liked to stop in once in awhile for fries and a glass of wine.

City Café on O Neil and George O Neil is a better place now anyway.

Don's no, the flux capacitor on my time machine is on the blink, I don't want to go there. Druscilla's is a group place only for me, I only go if compelled for business reasons. I really do not like the food.

Hate to hear this. My wife loved their burger and shoestring fries. I thought their chick n sausage gumbo was top notch, too.

Maybe this will give Ouncie more business, tho.

Food at the one downtown is probably my favorite spot for lunch downtown, guess the Sherwood lunch crowd did not support it the same.

Sherwood lunch crowd is contracting vastly IMO. Look at all the for lease signs at vacant commercial buildings.

I second they had the best pork chops in town. Absolutely loved their blackened chicken caesar salad. I'm really bummed right now about it.

I like the old-school feel of places like Don's, Fleur de Lis, El Rio Grande, & Sonny's

Those fries are copies of the ones served at J Alexander's. I seem to remember that when CCG first opened years ago, they brought in a number of former JA employees and I think some of the same recipes. Someone correct me if I'm off base here. That has been a long while back.

J. Alexander's is the best chain restaurant in BR.
