Can't get reservations to Girl and the Goat in Chicago

I know Girl and the Goat has been recommended many times on this and other boards. I am headed to Chicago this week. For the second trip in a row, I haven't been able to get reservations. I started trying to make them over a month ago. Completely booked. Obviously the place is very popular. How have other F&D Board members gotten to eat there?
My existing dinner reservations are RPM Steak and GT Fish and Oyster (also part of the Boka restaurant group with Girl & The Goat). I know both will be very good, but I really wanted to try Girl &Goat. Any input is appreciated.

Just keep checking the reservations. When I was there I got last minute ones because people cancelled.

That's what they told me. They said that the reservation confirmation calls go out the day before and that was a good time to check back with them.

If you are dining solo or a deux, roll it and sit at the bar. Chances are you will get jn easily, eat the same food, and probably get steered towards great dishes.

Was wonderful. Had to reserve (Open Table) 3 months in advance to get in at 4:30 on a Thursday. Good news was we weren't rushed out, so we made several hours out of it. They were VERY diligent about confirming, so keep checking

I checked with Visa Concierge service and they weren't able to get anything. They are going to call for me the day before to check for cancellations.
I forgot about Amex because I rarely use my card. I will call them too. Thanks.

We went last week and lucked into a 6:45 reservation two weeks before...guarantee it was someone who cancelled, so I'd go that route and call a couple days out.
Worst case, you could try to grab seats at the bar...getting there around 5 or 5:30 should grab you a couple. I know that's early but do whatever you can to get in there, that pig face dish is incredible.

I've been able to walk in twice without reservations and sit at the little bar thingamajig on trips recently

You can always get a spot at the bar, you just have to get there early enough.
I got a Friday night reservations a week ahead of time when I went. I reccomend checking out Ada Street just northwest of downtown. Almost as good IMO and much easier to get a table (not as unique of a menu, but reminded me a lot of girl and the goat)

Always call.
Don't just go by what opentable shows you.
Restaurants always hold back on what the reservation system allows.
Also been to girl n goat twice.

I have reservations at Girl and the Goat, which I already know is amazing. (Got incredibly lucky and snagged 6pm reservations for what will be my last night in Chicago)
But I also have lunch reservations at Blackbird and everyone I ask doesn't know much about it.

We did this several years ago. Camped out for a bit and were able to snag a spot in the lounge/couch area. One of the best meals I've ever heard. Get the goat belly if they have it.

I called and spoke to the reservation receptionist and she confirmed that I should call 2 days before, as that is when the confirmation calls go out. There is a chance of a cancellation or two. She also thought we would not have a lot of trouble and it wouldn't take too long getting a seat in the bar area and dining there. Worst case, this is what we are going to do.

She also thought we would not have a lot of trouble and it wouldn't take too long getting a seat in the bar area and dining there. Worst case, this is what we are going to do.

Keep checking Open Table also. Was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago and snagged a Monday 7:00 pm table on Friday morning. I'd been trying for several weeks prior and there had been nothing available.

Just got word back from my visa card. They got me a table for 4 at 9pm on a Thursday Aug. 6th.
