Dinner on Saturday night for a group of ten. What's your best recommendation? Not looking for anything fancy. It is a fairly casual group.

Cajun and creole are completely different. Plenty of good creole restauarants in New Orleans but not so much Cajun.

Except for the fact that Cochon, K-Paul's and Bon Ton are probably the top three Cajun RESTAURANTS in the state, yeah.

Didn't say that there were not any good Cajun restaurants in New Orleans, just not many. Definitely more now than there were in the past.

They have Bobby Heberts Cajun Cannon out in Metairie

Don't get more Cajun than that.

at best, and over priced to me. Definitely better options in that area.

I just now cancelled a reservation for twelve at Restaurant R'evolution in the Chef's Private Dining Room for Saturday Night. If you call Haeja Sanchez at 504-553-2277 I bet you could snatch up that spot.

My party swelled with people inviting themselves and we sized out of the room. Was really looking forward to it.

Any luck OP?

I second what YA mentioned.... Cochon, K-Pauls, and Bon Ton are great.

While not truly cajun, you can look at Jacques Imos. It's not on the level of the others, but I know they have a small side room that they might could fit ya'll in if not already booked.

A much more casual option would be the Gumbo Shop.

It's a busy time for N.O. restaurants, so good luck in the search.

Tried R'evolution and Cochon, but they were booked up. Looks like we are headed to K-Paul's. Thanks for all the suggestions.

You gotta love the butthurt crowd that cant admit New Orleans has some nice cajun places. They've drawn up an imaginary geographical boundary for where cajun food is allowed to exist.

And even inside their magical, imaginary boundary, there are places that call themselves Cajun "restaurants" and the food is inedible.

I grew up eating Cajun food exclusively and not one single item from Cochon's menu was ever served at my house. Doesn't mean that Cochon isn't Cajun, just means I didn't have Donald Link cooking for me.
