After having been three times, it was shite the most recent time I went (1.5 years ago). Terrible service and food was poor quality ingredients. Not too surprised but still very disappointing.

Sorry to see that. I liked the place but tourists don't come to New Orleans to eat Italian food.

Well something kept him open for 26 years.
I never went. Never had many friends say it was good and there is just too much competition these days

Duke didn't adapt with the times while everyone else around him did

They were pretty busy up until a few years ago

Adapt in what way? When would you say they started going downhill? I went around 2013 and seemed ok.

We never went either. Never on radar but Italian hardly is. We do like Avo though.

You hear this guy on TF, all he does is blame everyone but himself. One excuse is all the new small plate tapas type places, craft dis and craft dat.

He stopped valet parking. That turned a lot of regulars off.

He had that old, cheesy bar with leather and velvet everywhere. Expensive drinks that don't match the pours. Gaudy extravagant dining area. A stagnant menu. Why would a tourist have this place on their list?

The food itself wasn't bad in a vacuum. But there's a lot more too it

Wonder why he stopped valet parking? Is there a steep cost associated with that?

Went once for a pre-paid group business dinner, and it was great. They brought us course after course of small plates until we were about to pop. And they kept our wine glasses filled without asking. The singers made a few appearances at our table, just enough to enjoy without it becoming annoying.

Many of those group meals can be weak, even at great restaurants, but that was one of my favorites. Sorry to see it closing.

for seven years he hosted a food talk show, “Dig In with Chef Duke,” on 1350 AM.
That show had the worst theme music in radio history. Made the show unbearable.
