Is there anyone doing any malt forward beers? A good Brittish Mild, ESB, Scotch Ale? It just seems like they're all doing varying degrees of IPAs and then a brown, a blond, and that's it.

Wayward has a pretty decent ESB
Courtyard has done Scotch Ales in the past

I went to Parleaux Beer Labs over the weekend and enjoyed the three beers I tried. Took a crowler of their Brett Saison home with me. Hipster space, which isn't surprising as it is in the Bywater.

Wayward Owl has a Scotch Ale as well.

Nice to see we have reached the Charlotte, NC 'more breweries than talented brewers' stage so quickly. A brewpub that is fighting with NOLA, the other new one down the road, the other new one that hasn't opened yet and Tchoup Yard just on that stretch of Tchoupitoulas. Not to mention the other better beer bars in the neighborhood. Throw that on top of the cost of building out a brewery and the fact that you are gonna have to sell half barrels for dirt cheap to the distro guys (that have 50 other better established and embedded brands in the portfolio) and the labor needed to run an operation like this? Noooo thanks.

Hit up both Parleaux and Brieux Carre today...the beer from both really let me down.

BC needs to retool. Went for that collab and did not like one thing they had.

I went to Port Orleans last weekend. The food was good but the beer wasn't. Went straight to NOLA after we finished eating.

Urban South seems to be hitting on all cylinders right now.

...all but A/C. Goddamn does it get hot in there!

Last couple of times I've been in,they had those large cooling fans. Was hot but not unbearable

Have been twice to Port Orleans and will not be returning unless I hear of some remarkable turnaround. All of their beers, from the Slackwater Brown to the IPA are all very, to below average. The place is nice and the financial backing is obviously there, but the product is bad. Hell, paid $15 for a patty melt. Went early on to Brieux Carre and thought it not bad, but returned about a month ago and couldn't finish the beers I purchased. Heard they are expanding upstairs, not sure what to make of that. Regarding the heat at Urban South, I will gladly sit in the heat to drink good beer, and the same applies to Courtyard, arguably some of the best beer to be had in the state.

Every brewery in existence has a wheat, brown or amber, and at least 2-3 more non-IPA or adventurous options. Never understood why folks liking IPAs makes you baws so upset.

We were in Courtyard last night sweating our asses off. No room outside. But, enjoying every damn minute of it and every damn beer.

I've yet to hit Port Orleans but I sampled two of their beers at the Bulldog and never had a desire to visit. After seeing countless reviews I have no desire to go

Went to Courtyard after powering through Parleaux and BC...twas glorious.

I know I'm in the minority, but I wish more local breweries would focus on the "non-ambitious" stuff. I love great raft here, but Jesus how may different kind of absurdly hopped IPA's and sours do you need????
And yea...I've seen the FBD posts so I know downvotes are coming....whatever I like what I like
The "non-ambitious" stuff is extremely easy to find from basically every brewery in the country, from the largest macro to the smallest micro and everything in between.
I'll use Parish as an example, being I've been seeing them get the most shite lately for focusing solely on IPAs. Are they putting out a half dozen IPAs? Sure. They also sell Canebreak, Strawberry Canebreak, Reve, and South Coast.
I mean, I suppose they could brew an English Brown, but are we really hurting for the fact that they don't?
Beer geeks get excited about local breweries doing IPAs because it's a beer style that needs to be consumed fresh.

Brought home two crowlers, one I brought in but I think they charged me for by accident. May crack one open for GOT.
