I truly cannot comprehend how people are so excited for a product that fairly recently killed 3 people. I'll probaby have some again one of these days but I just don't understand the excitement.

After they stopped selling Blue Bell, I started eating Stone Ridge. I will never go back (except for birthday cake when it eventually returns).

So there are pricks on every TD board, huh?

ETA: I figured the FDB would be more like the OB.

Yes, there are ignorant, sad individuals that feel compelled to call other people pricks on this board. Sad, isn't it?

Mo Jeaux stalks Blue Bell threads.

I will be purchasing some Blue Bell. Mo, you could get some Blue Bell vanilla and mix it with your Crown, pour it over ice, sprinkle a bit of nutmeg on top and call it a bourbon milk punch. I've made them with Blue Bell. Good stuff.

Here's a recipe.

1/2 gallon of Bluebell homemade vanilla ice cream or the homemade vanilla brand of your choice
1 cup bourbon of your choice (you can substitute brandy, if you like)
1/2 cup amaretto
grated nutmeg

Allow the ice cream to melt. Use a funnel to transfer it to a gallon plastic container. Add the bourbon and the amaretto. Shake and refrigerate or freeze and defrost, if you want to make it ahead. Serve over ice and sprinkle a wee bit of nutmeg on top.

NOTE: I think it could use a bit more bourbon and I add just a little creme de cocao to it, simply because I like it. It was darn good, as is, though.

Ah. Pretty new to the FDB. I basically lurk and steal recipes, jambalaya formulas, etc.

don't let the snobs get to ya. Some of the FDB elite get the milk from the cows they raise, grow their own sugar cane and vanilla plants.and make their own ice cream in the creamery in their back yard.

That's a gross exaggeration, though some of us do grow our own herbs and some vegetables along with having fruit trees.

I suppose a few might have their own chickens, cattle and pigs. I can't recall reading about any slaughtering here, though.

Mo just doesn't like Blue Bell. He may not like people who do like it for all I know. I wouldn't worry about it. He's a good guy otherwise.

Thanks, Gris.

Here's my Blue Bell story, for what it's worth (which is nothing). I don't hate it. I can't get it up here, but I have enjoyed it on occasion when I go back to Louisiana, and many members of my family like it.

It's just one of those things that I don't understand the overt, express love for. The same goes for crown royal. I see constant threads on this board about Blue Bell and crown (confirmation bias, obviously). I consider both to be just OK products, but they seem to have a passionate following. It just irks me, and I lose control (as the other poster said, I start acting like a prick).

In reality, I really don't care otherwise. Everyone can enjoy their Blue Bell (and crown for that matter).
