Billy's is fine. So is dons and best stop. However the love for Billy's is putting into an overrated area. It's very good but isn't that much better. The cheese stuffed boudin balls are already there. Hugely overrated. Regular boudin balls are fine no need to add the shitty cheese to them. Best stop smoked and Billy's smoked are virtually identical. I give dons the nod for other items and most likely to have hot cracklins.

best stop lost me when I asked for a link of smoked boudin and they had to microwave a link because they don't keep any hot

billys on the other hand probably sells as much smoked as they do regular, and its always hot.....hell, they'll even cut it up for you and serve it on a paper tray

eta: and don's doesnt really belong in the discussion between BS and billys

I've never been to Billy's.

But BS >> Don's

BS also has good andouille. I use half BS and half Jacobs in my gumbo.

I like it, they do have some mushy rice sometimes which is disappointing, but from a general seasoning, casing, and meat chunk perspective I find it suits my tastes.

Agreed. It's like this with Hebert's too sometimes, but not a deal breaker.

FWIW, Don's was the consensus winner for a few years by the Boudin For Peace guys (4 buses full of drunks) who spend one Saturday a year hitting up nearly every boudin joint in the area.

I'm a fan of all dese boudins dat make me have to jog on da threadmill.

I have had Billy's nuke smoked boudin too. I'm pretty sure they are not grabbing it right out of the smoker for you. Boudin does reheat in the microwave good though

Yeah, it's very good, but I prefer Don's. Best Stop is not bad either. It gets shite on b/c its been around a long time. Poche's (15 years ago) was FAR and AWAY the best, however mass production and packing for grocers has hurt the quality. LeBlanc's on Hollywood St. (in the hood off of University) needs to be mentioned, they beat Billeaud's/Earl's/NuNu's !

I prefer Billy's regular to Best Stop, but Best Stop smoked to Billy's.

They also voted Eunice poultry winner one year, and that is almost inedible!

That's because by the time they got to Eunice, good judgement was long gone.

This. I'm shocked by the amount of love they get.
