Call Street Café. Starke, Fl.

It’s my breakfast stop when I drive back to NC from my parents place in SW FL once or twice a year.

Always great. Time before last I was in there, a man who obviously had significant mental issues was eating breakfast. He tried to pay for it with a bunch of crumpled up 1’s and quarters. Waitress said she’d take care of it. So, good people too.

Btw, she got a big ole tip from me.

Old South- great “meat and three”. Waitress calls them “pitino” beans and they are great.

Ozark Mountain Smokehouse- excellent sandwiches and desserts.

Feltner’s Whatta-Burger. Pineapple shakes are out of this world.

The Pea Ridge cafe. Good burgers and they serve pancakes the size of a dinner plate. They also have good chicken fried steak and the western omelet is awesome.

Focusing more on LA and local areas

Back when it was open, the Butt Hutt in Vidalia was the bomb.

Peto’s chevron gas station on Roanoke, LA exit on I-10. Love their counter hot food...duck quesadillas yum!

Doe’s in Greenville, MS

Back in the day, Paw Claws at the Dawg House in Ruston, LA. Great college bar/restaurant

Jabonkys Bar and Grill in Jonesville always hit the spot after a long hunt in the morning

Not far from Jesse's in Magnolia Springs (which is great) is the Pirate Bar in Josephine. Good bar burgers. You can drive but the food tastes better if you go by boat and drink a shite ton of bushwackers in the wood and sand floor bar. It reminds of what the Flora-Bama was back in the '80's. Dogs welcome, picnic tables, strong drinks.

Its a straight shot across the Intracoastal from Bear Point Marina in Orange Beach. They have a small beach with some large oak trees for shade and a swimming area. Mostly locals but summer weekends can get a LOT of baw boat traffic.

The best burgers that I’ve had were from Nina’s Backdoor Cafe which was in the back of Ralph’s Tavern on Hay. 61 north of St. Francisville. Place stayed open only a year or so, think they got sideways with owners of Ralph’s.

Every burger I’ve had since I’ve compared to a Nina Burger and they all fall short.

Green Leaf Thai restaurant in Hammond has the best Curry I’ve had—Green, Massaman and Panang are all great. Also Coconut milk soup, #2 on the menu is outstanding. Just opened a 2nd restaurant in Covington but only has green and panang curry.

Punjabi Dhaba’s gas station Indian food is very good.

Buffet for lunch and off menu for dinner. Expect no frills inside the restaurant but food is legit.
