there are not 3 places in NOLA that are clearly better than Whole Foods on Magazine. Whole Foods just happens to make very good pizza.

Note: the Whole Foods on Vets makes awful pizza for some reason....wayyyyy too much cheese.

I like Whole Food's on Magazine for sure. Brooklyn, Theo's and my place I will open will be better, and are better now.

Whole Food is not top 5 in NOLA...you are just going to have to accept that finally.

Domenica (hands down the best in the state)
Theo's
Slice
Brooklyn
Mo's
Tower of Pizza
Mark Twain's

What was the name of the NY pizza joint on North Carrollton? I know it was there pre-Katrina. Used to get delivery from those guys all the time. Really liked it. For some reason, I want to say it was called "New York Pizza"?

Help a brotha out.

I will have to try it...I am usually alone on business in BR or tailgating...neither make me want pizza...I will keep it in mind though.

Domenica (hands down the best in the state) - never tried it.
Theo's - like it, but it's not a better pizza. Crust is too cracker like.
Slice - good, but overpriced. It has an argument.
Brooklyn - never had it
Mo's - not a fan
Tower of Pizza - not a fan
Mark Twain's - never had it

fwiw. when i say NOLA i mean NOLA proper only....not JP or the W-ank.

Yeh...I mean there is Domenica and then a huge, huge gap...

Two I forgot were Cafe Nino and Cote de Sud...the latter of which we had last night...it was really, really good.

Breaded vealcutlet pizza from Venezia's is also above Whole Foods....Whole Foods is probably number 9 or 10 in NOLA IMO....no higher.

b/c if you live in NOLA proper, and work in NOLA proper you don't have a lot of reasons to scour JP or the Westbank for pizza....you know, the whole concept of great urban living as in basing quality of life on places right by you, or at least in the same parish/county.

So driving up river road for 5 minutes and hitting Mark Twain's is unacceptable in our modern urban reality?

Not everyone uses biking a 5 block radius of Uptown for 6 months as a method of judging an entire city...just you.

You want 8 better in NOLA proper...here:

1. Domenica
2. A Mano
3. Cote de Sud
4. Theo's
5. Slice
6. Cafe Nino
7. Venezia's
8. Pie

i wonder how you would rank them if WF was a local NOLA place?

eta: of course, that list pales in comparison to Portland's.

I really wasn't joking either. I get digornos throw some basil, oregano, crushed red pepper and parmasean on it. Bam not gonna get better pizza in br than that especially considering you have to drive sit and pay more.

Go to Whole Foods and get one of their frozen pizzas if you're going to go that route.

I go to WF for lunch all the time. $5 for 2 big slices of good NY style pizza.

I love how this
