Stick burner here brother. Just buy an oven and some liquid smoke if you are going to cheat...

Just kidding, I have some pellet friends and they put out some good food, I like sticks though.

It doesn't have to be an either/or situation. I have one of each and they both have their +/-'s.

Rec Tec Grills

This.

The Camp Chef Woodwind is also another good one. Especially with the optional gas sear box attachment if you don't already have a gas grill.

I own a Yoder. Ive got the big boy, YS1500, but the YS640 is just as good. Price is up there but the quality is worth it. its around 1600 if i remember.

That is intriguing. Anyone used the sear box attachment?

I’m ready to upgrade from Traeger to Rec Tec. Looks like I missed out on the red one for $999

I haven't, but I have a friend who has it on his Woodwind. He loves it. He'll use it to quickly cook a couple burgers or chicken breasts when he's in a hurry and doesn't want to fire up the Woodwind.

Although it's kind of pointless if you already have a gas grill.

Yes and it's awesome to sear steaks at 900 degrees. Reverse searing has never been so easy and convenient with the attachment.

So you can attach it to any smoker? Or atleast modify it to?

Not sure about other smokers, but it fits on several of the different Camp Chef smokers.

If you're willing to make mods, I'm sure it could be made to fit other smokers though. It basically bolts on the right side of the smoker and replaces the table on that side.

Me and my buddies have Traegers and love them but I can't say it's the best because I haven't owned others. FWIW most people will just recommend theirs(like i'm doing now) because they haven't owned another one. Same thing with Truck brands, phones etc. Just avoid the ones that people have owned and they say suck.

My YS640 has caused me to completly abandon my much loved stick burner, there are certianly cheaper ones out there but have not seen a better bang for the buck, that damn tank will outlive me.

The counterweight on the door is not decorative.
