re: Best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge?

i like Superior, La Carretta, Ninfas, and Mi Padres.

ate at Mi Padres last week, it was good tex-mex. however, the hottest thing there was the hostess. she was smoking hot.

I like El Magey for what it is but I don't think I'd put it at the top of the list for BR.

re: Best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge?
Sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I guess I should have been clearer. What I meant is that some people consider Tex Mex to be TRUE Mexican, so when they try a place like La Tiendita they don't like it because it's not what they're accustomed to. Whether or not you like it better is up to your own personal preference.

I still say you can't beat the guac, deluxe nachos, chili/onion enchiladas con huevos, and chocolate chimichanga w/ whipped cream and strawberries at El Rio Grande

re: Best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge?

I only get one dish at Ninfa's and it's the Fajitas Chihuahua.. The problem I've had recently is that the contents of the plate are dried out before it's served.. It could be due to the dish sitting under a hot lamp for too long while waiting for the rest of the dishes to be prepared.. idk.
They do need to check themselves.. before they wreck themselves.

From my vast messican restaurant experience I've found it's really hard to frick up a quiesdilla or fajita.

re: Best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge?
Are there multiple restaurants in the little Mexican center on Seigen? I have been to a place that I thought was La Tiendita twice now and it was hella good, but it says Mi Pueblito or something like that on the top of the entrance. I thought La Tiendita must have been the little grocery store next to it.

LA Tiendita is a little farther down siege by industriplex.

Mi Pueblito is behind twin peaks and is in a little grocery store. Awesome food

No. About a half mile apart and on opposite sides of the road

re: Best Mexican restaurants in Baton Rouge?
Siegen Lane has so many Mexican restaurants the name of the street is an anagram for 'el angienas', Spanish for chest pain.

I mean what is the difference between good Tex-Mex and bad Tex-Mex? It is virtually 6 ingredients combined in different ways, all of the places have the same menus, just different pictures.

I vote for the joint with the strongest margaritas and the smelliest carpeting, Carlos. If he would just add a TV playing violent movies in Spanish it would be like North Matamores.

Thanks, I'll have to check the other one out. Wherever I went, they had burritos for $4.95 which was incredible and included the best chips and salsa I have had in BR

ZIPPIES!

If we are going talk about these semi-fast burrito joints, Qdoba has a better burrito and a better margarita.

In fact, I'd put Qdoba's frozen margarita up against any in Baton Rouge, including Nifa's.

Key word being "frozen."

La Tiendita is the small shop next to El Sol de Guerrero.
El Sol de Guerrero gets my vote as the best Mexican food in BR.
The atmosphere is lacking, but the service is more than adequate and food is damn good/very inexpensive.

Just picked up pork chop and fried plantains from La Salvadorean Pupuseriaon Gardere across from the baseball complex.

Noticed it a while back. Papusas and baleadeas were great the first time I went. Not Mexican, but a nice change of pace. Very nice people
