What is the best buffet in Las Vegas? Will be spending the holidays and want to be gluttonous.

Bellagio is worthy. Prepare to stand in line for well over an hour though.

The Mirage used to have a great buffet. Maybe it still does?

Others who have been more recently than I have can chime in for an update.

Bellagio was my favorite. Didn't eat at the Wynn, though.

Mirage buffet is just ok, had it about 2 weeks ago.

I did the Bellagio Buffet about 8 yrs ago and it was awesome. If I had to guess I'd say it still is.

I saw a piece on the Bellagio buffet about 2 months ago on "Food Paradise"... It looked awesome, but they said it was pretty pricey
I appreciate the insight from everyone though
I was wondering the same thing

The Buffett at the Cosmo was hands down the best I had this summer. Was disappointed in the wynn.

Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan
Bacchanal at Ceasers Palace

Do NOT go to Monte Carlo buffet or Flamingo Buffet.

not to give a shitty answer

(prepares shitty answer)

but for the cost of them now, you're really better off picking from one of the many awesome normal restaurants in the city and having a great meal.

Excellent point. Mine are usually comped or greatly discounted if they weren't I probably wouldn't go as much. More family style places are opening such as Carbone at Aria. One of the best veal parms I've ever had but it's best to go with a group and share all of the dishes. Lots of great places to eat on and off the strip. Downtown has stepped up their game big time too.

Having been to over 2 dozen buffets in Las Vegas I couldn't agree more.

The main pull of buffets is its all you can eat and the selection.

The thing is, for the basic servings at these buffets, the quality of the buffet at say, Red Rock is not too far from the quality of say, Bachannal at Caesars Palace. You pay $40- $50 more at Bachannal but most of the items are similar quality.

The additional money is mainly for dessert quality, seafood quality (which isn't always served), special/made to order station offerings, and presentation. If you are going to a buffet like Bachannal or Wicked Spoon where you are paying a premium price, get your money's worth and skip the stuff in the warming trays and only get the special/made to order stuff like carving stations, seafood, and desserts.

I'd still rather just go somewhere and get a good quality meal than go to a buffet and get a lot of food that is slightly lower quality. There are so many good hole in the wall places in the city that are cheap yet amazing you can still get a lot of good food for a low price. I see no need for buffets.

If you must go to a buffet I suggest sticking to one type of food. Don't try to sample everything there. For example only stick to the seafood, or only stick to the italian, or only stick to the American, or only stick to the Chinese, and simply get a lot of it. And don't splurge on deserts unless you want to be in the fetal position for a couple hours.

I think the best buffet regardless of price is The Buffet at the Wynn.

I think the best buffet for your buck is Studio B Buffet at the M. It's $30 ($45 for seafood nights) yet in my opinion around the same quality as the top end places on the strip, maybe slightly less quality but still in the same league despite being half as expensive.

The Station Casinos have good affordable buffets, especially the ones at Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. $15 with a players card that you can sign up for for free, and the quality isn't bad at all.

Not looking to sidetrack this thread but gotta ask since Im heading to Vegas in January.

Which restaurants do you recommend? I'm staying at the Bellagio and looked on Yelp and was considering Mon Ami Gabi. Looking for one (maybe 2) fancy dinners and a couple of nice lunch/brunch spots. Was considering a buffet but your post almost talked me out of one.

It depends.

I used to live in Las Vegas so I have a different approach when I visit. I have a rent car. Will you have a rent car?

For me I usually just hit up all my favorite hole in the wall spots. I don't spend a lot of money on food. That doesn't mean there aren't good places on and around Las Vegas Blvd., it just means that I know I can get good food at a low price off the strip, I just have to drive there.

That being said there are places on the Strip that offer unique experiences, Mon Ami Gabi being one, because you get to sit right across from the Bellagio Fountains. If you go there I recommend going for breakfast. Not brunch, but breakfast.

You will laugh but the best steakhouse is the one at Circus Circus. The place at the top of the Stratosphere is also good.

I still recommend going to a buffet at least once. I even went to a buffet last time I was there, I went to the one at The M. The M is a ways out though and you need a rent car or be prepared to pay for a cab or Uber. If you go to a buffet though I think its best to go for seafood nights. It's a little more expensive but worth it. You can get the seafood buffet at Rio at any time.

If you have a rent car my favorite place to eat in all of Las Vegas is a wing place on Sunset Blvd. called "The Chicken Shack". It's a hole in the wall wing joint that has my favorite wings of anywhere. Plus their fries are good too, and its cheap.

Napoli Pizzeria has a carry out special, $8 or $9 for a 16 inch large one topping. Their pizza is pretty damn good for that price.

Lastly there is a place South of Mandalay Bay called Skinny Fats that is good and not too expensive either.
