I will say this b/c when I was younger it produced some of the quickest face numbing nights I've ever had from drinking.

I remember hearing a rumor that LA had an ABV limit on what can be bottled.
No limit here.
My vote for best beer ever produced in Louisiana is probably the XXX Grenade from Bayou Teche, or Abita's Select Oatmeal Stout.
Or Parish Grand Cru Barleywine, but that was just a test batch I tried so it doesn't really count.

I really should have made it to Avenue Pub at least one night that week... :dammit:

TEA: Rickenjacks Old Hardhead was quality stuff. I really want one of their old beer tap handles.

Purple Haze FTW. I don't have a lot of Louisiana beer drinkin experience.

best as far as what? taste or sales?
For taste purposes I'd say either NOLA blonde or brown (sorry Abita). I love to crown the Hurricane Saison champ, but I haven't tasted it yet. Sales wise I'd have to say Abita Amber has got to be up there around the top.

Even before moving to LA was even a thought, I was regularly picking up Turbodog and Blackened Voodoo Lager for both cooking and consumption.

Yeah, it was a really good beer. I still don't like the Biere Pale, but the Grenade, Boucanee, and the one-off specialties have all been really good.

Oh, and I looked up the laws, I was wrong. Any microbrewery that brews under 12,500 barrels per year can serve on premises.
This must be how Crescent City does it, but Abita and BJ's can't.

I like the Grenade but Boucanee blew me away. I really wish I could find that in bottles. I can't wait for this:
